I heard somewhere (dad?) that King Taylor got a steal and threw down a reverse slam in the EKU game.

Never seen him dunk and am curious as to his hops, so I was hoping I could get confirmation from someone who watched or was there...also, would love to see a pic or video (pref video, obviously) if anyone has got one.

On a side note, I read the ESPN.com post game summary of the EKU game and it said that all the guys were still on Hawaii time and that it definitely contributed to our poor play, especially in the first 8-10 mins or whatever it was where we sucked it up. Bad news for Wisc. b/c coach k probably was pissed in practice today and I bet they come out looking for blood tmrw.

Is King Taylor some Chinese dude?

IIRC, another player (Paulus?) made the steal, and passed it to King, who dribbled it behind his back to avoid a defender and then slammed it home. The finish was the thing - behind the back dribble at speed, then rising up and jamming it. It was sweet!

I don't get the reversing of the names either. Is that supposed to be funny or cute?

someone else came up with it (cameron?), I thought it was a cool nickname, so I continued it.

I just want to see a pic/video of our kinda fat, white, 3 point specialist, throwing down.

Always love to remind my UNC friends about going to home to NJ for fast-food Chinese at Rice King.

As King dominated in yesterday's game - the Crazies chanted "Taylor's winning" a couple of times as he had scored more points than EKU - I think it is apropos that he be called "King Taylor."

I loved the "OH! KAY!" chant after his slam. Hope that becomes a regular!

Actually, King did make the steal on the play -- stripping the ballhandler and knocking the ball to Paulus, who passed it ahead of King, who went behind his back to avoid a defender and finished with a slam. I'm pretty sure it was a routine slam and not a reverse dunk.

The next time down the floor, "King Taylor" (I LOVE the nickname) cut into the passing lane, picked it clean and took it the distance. Even though he was alone for this one, he just laid it in and didn't dunk.

Those were his final two baskets in the game, both coming right about the four minute mark in the second half.

Jam Earl

Beard Throaty

Baily Thurl

Dick Groaty

I know, Groaty should have come before Dick, but I'm tired and that was the only way to make it rhyme. Been driving all day. Had to post before going to bed. Just had to. I was having withdrawel symptoms. Apologies. My legs hurt.

Thanks for the correction - the memorable part for me was the finish - I didn't remember who got the steal, but I knew he received a pass for the exciting finish.

As for the nickname, I guess it just reminds me too much of King Rice and perhaps even Lebron "King" James (who I like OK as a player and all, I'm just sayin') . . .

Yes, I was the inventor of the King Taylor phenomenon (not that it was the hardest product to come by, as all it took was switching two names around:)). So, if you guys want to ramsack somebody for the King Taylor creation, here I am. In fact, I used the name all summer long and not a word was spoken against it. It became a cultural hit over on Devil's Den for awhile. Respected posters such as ACCBballFan and maxcrowder, among others, even caught on and used it for quite awhile. King Taylor was new, fresh, innovative, astonishing. It was brilliance. Lightning caught in a bottle. And I created it.

I'm selling King Taylor tees for Christmas, if anyone here is interested. KING on front, TAYLOR on back. KINGTAYLOR down both sleeves. Everything is Times New Roman font. Nothing but the best for King Taylor. I've now used King Taylor is this word order eight times. Mad yet? No but seriously, I have the order forms.

Well, unfortunately, the King Taylor (nine times) era looks to be coming to an end. Duke fans everywhere seem to be outraged over it. To that I say, good riddens to you. We here at Duke Basketball Report will miss you. We are comitted to King Taylor's (ten plus an apostrophe s) excellence and will remain solid supporters of his three-point (and apprantly) dunking royalty (didn't get to see the game yesterday:().

:D How's that, Silky?

BTW, I first came up with the idea and decided to start calling Taylor "King Taylor" after remembering how much I liked the "King Rex" nickname Kentucky fans gave to three-point and dunking extraordinaire Rex Chapman back in the '80s. I always loved that name for some reason.

For whatever that is worth, I guess.

I say that when Taylor hits a big three near the end of a game to put a dagger in the opposing team's heart we all chant "T-K-O, T-K-O"

We all focus on King Taylor's scoring, which was great, but lets not forget that the rest of his game wasn't too shabby, either.

We do

....50 yard line where we sit, that comes off as 'Oh! Kay!!'. (The "T" sort of gets lost.) Still a really good yell.

To me, the King Taylor nickname evokes memories of Duke's greatest player ... Bubas himself called Heyman "King Arthur"

This my best recollection and I was sitting in Section 18, Row AA, Seat 18 which is first row, on the floor, under the basket where King Taylor made it happen, OMG!!
