Women beat Purdue 53-41. Duke shot 19-60, 31%; Purdue 12-41, 29%. Even the FTs were bad, too: Duke 11-16, 68% and Purdue 14 for 20, 70%. Jasmin Thomas led all scorers with 15.

One important point re: Duke's offensive struggles. No Abby Waner. (and if someone out there knows more about the nature of her injury/cause of missed games, please share!)

In any event, Purdue is one of the women's powers of the past few years, so this is still a big win for a team relying quite a bit on youth and without Abby. Way to go ladies!

Go Duke!!!!!!!!!! Go Devils!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GTHCGTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, partly answered my own question via the handy-dandy Duke Sports Information post-game notes.

"Junior Abby Waner missed her third straight game with an ankle injury. She is listed as day-to-day and should see action this week in the Paradise Jam."

Hope that she's well and back soon!

P.S. If you haven't seen her commentate or read her blog (http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22760&SPID=1846&DB_OEM_ID=4200&ATCLID=1320381) before, you're missing out.

Go Abby!!!! Go Duke!!!!!! Go Devils!!!!!!! GTHCGTH!!!!!!!!!!

High Ankle Sprain - the same injury that many of the men have suffered over the years (see Grant Hill).

High Ankle Sprain - the same injury that many of the men have suffered over the years (see Grant Hill).

Historically, that takes weeks to heal, not days, even with the miracles of Duke Medicine. Maybe they've made advancements to treatments, but I think time is the answer.

Abby suffered her injury in practice. Non-contact injury. McCallie said last Sunday, after the UNC-G game, that Abby was day-to-day, game-time decision but that she did think she would play in the Virgin Islands.

She also said the same thing about Wanisha (wrist injury) and Wanisha did play last night.

According to the AP boxscore, Black only had 10 points, not 22. She was only 2-11 from the floor. And Duke was led by Thomas's 15. Black did have a double double, 10 pts and 11 rebs, incl 5 ORs.
