I assume we will be forced to look at some version of the black road uni's again this year but are there any changes in the uni's at all this year. Sorry, I am uniform obsessed.

I will say this, for the Carolina game, we had better be sporting the blue and whites. With that said, I know we won't.

Our home whites with black, though, make me puke. I don't care if jersey's have zero impact on any a game whatsoever, they still suck.

To quote Uni Watch: (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/071108&sportCat=ncb)

• Duke has ditched the black collar and armhole trim (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2085/1892319130_6dfb40823c_o.jpg) and the NikeWorld horns (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2272/1892319248_e68d0f3cd9.jpg?v=0) in favor of a more streamlined approach (http://www.goduke.com//pics19/800/PG/PGXHYWNPKOJRCRR.20071104005012.jpg). That's much better, but why the black stripe still? Oh well, who cares, Christmas starts in six minutes!!!

I was under the impression that most Duke fans liked the black uniforms. They were a nice change of pace and pretty popular sellers in the early double aughts anyway.

The last couple years we've worn the blue jerseys at the Dean Dome. However, typically we alternate between the blue and black every road game. Coach K, in the past, has said that generally it was the captains' choice as to what jersey to wear on road games, but they still alternated.

We have a black strip on our Unis, as a tribute to VT. All ACC teams have the black bars on their unis somewhere (UNC has it on their back). See Uni watch for more info.

He means the trim down the side.

why can't we just go back to blue with white trim. Also, I don't really like the shade of blue, even the trim on the home jerseys. It seems too bright and not the correct shade of blue. Anyone else feel the same?

Put me down for "Hates the black uniforms...for that matter, hates any black on any Duke uniforms and feels strongly that it should be eradicated."

Our old home whites were a beautiful thing. Why did they have to go and change a beautiful thing? I don't care what they do with our away jerseys, but a little part of me died two years ago when the changed the home whites.

As regards the away jerseys, Coach K said last year that the captains decided which colors to wear. I don't know if that is true for this year though.

The last couple years we've worn the blue jerseys at the Dean Dome.

Not the blue ones I'm talking about. We wore the fake plastic ones with black sides panels. Not the Chris Duhon, reverse layup, game winner in the Dean Dome, in front of 20,000 surplus store shoppers, blue and white, more beautiful than a lone sail boat on a sunny, yet breezy, March day at sea uniforms.

We have no white jerseys anymore. We have no blue jerseys anymore. Just horrors from Nike (and this from a man who bought the first black authentic jersey and shorts at the Duke Store in November 1996, the morning after the St. Joe's game). The original black jerseys (1997 and 1998) with the white trim and piping were much nicer and matched the home and road. Our current home and road are a disgrace. The black should only be used on occasion (hence the term "alternate" and never in Chappaheeyah).

I have a salesman sample authentic JJ Redick 2005 jersey (it says "SMITH" on the back) (this was before Nike destroyed the whites), when compared to the other authentic home jerseys I own from even a couple of years earlier, the color "blue" was definitely different - it has a lighter, purple-ish tinge in person.

We need to get our uniforms back.

Go to Hell, Nike, Go to Hell!

I'm serious when I say something needs to be done about this. I email every day. With enough revolt, we can get those Duhon blues back, I say!

Tell me who to email and I'll join the revolution. I'll email everyday. That Duhon shot was the last time I remember the true road blues. That was what? 2004?
I also agree that the "blue" looks fake and purple-ish. I'm just glad I'm not alone in my hate for the nike uni's.

Interesting article concerning the origins and exact description of "Duke Blue"

http://library.duke.edu/uarchives/faqs/duke_blue.html

Quoted from the citation:

"Duke Blue is registered as number 287 in the Pantone® Color Matching System (http://www.pantone.com/ ). Colors in the range of Pantone® numbers 283 to 289 are used for Duke Blue. The reason for the range of numbers relates to differences in printed materials, computer applications, and textiles. The Pantone® Process Color Imaging Guide formula for Duke Blue is 100% Cyan + 69% Magenta + 0% Yellow + 11.5% Black. In a computer color palette Duke Blue is hex 00,00,9C; RGB 0,0,156; Hue=160 Saturation =240 Brightness=73."

I can't seem to find it now but I swear I was looking at some picture of Singler and someone else in their uniforms and there wasn't any black in the trim. The unis looked like they use to. Am I crazy or are there other alternate home unis that might get pulled out sometime? Also, last year they wore the stupid unis with the horns (or whatever you would call them) for a few games. Thankfully that didn't last long. It seems like every nike team had those!

Why are they called uniforms if they're always changing

11.5% black. See, black IS one of our school colors and why our players wear the black road unis at times...

I haven't gotten answered yet, but I will leave one every day until I see those Duhon reverse layup jersey's:)

I've even begun sending my emails here: DB@DukeBluePlanet.com. Not sure how much it helps sending emails to our recruiting coordinator, but it can't hurt. This is serious business, after all. Also, I've called the athletic department in the past and might restart this tomorrow. I bet they love me;)

Why thank you, weezie. That jersey belongs in the Guggenheim, after all. Right next to Christian's ball.

In all seriousness, what would be the most effective way to communicate to the program that the fans (or at least those who sympathize with me) would like to see the old uniforms resurrected? Do I need to get every student to sign a petition? Must I sign a contract of indentured servitude to Coach K? I imagine that giving $1 million would be a good start but **sigh** I lack the means. In the end, I would just like to know if there is a better way than emailing Coach K's xm radio account every day.

^^I'm always searching for better alternatives. Right now, this is what I got.

Let me go to my office and reinvent my plan. I'll be back later.

I emailed the recruiting coordinator at the Blueplanet account. He agrees with us but I guess there's not much that he can do about it.
