Not sure if this was covered elsewhere, but Jon Scheyer has been named Head Coach of Team USA for the 2022 Maccabiah Games. Terrific honor and great head-coaching experience for him. Congrats, Coach.

Duke coaches have had some great performances with Team USA, and this should be no exception. The American delegation should have over 1,000 athletes and the entire Macabbiah about 10,000 participants, so this is a great opportunity for Jon.

To me, this sounds suspiciously like Coach K grooming a successor. Great opportunity for Scheyer, of course, and I hope he completely succeeds. But it is an interesting development from a Duke basketball perspective, as well.

Mazel tov, coach. Looks like the last coach was everyone's favorite, Doug Gottlieb.

In looking for potential member of the team (the last team was heavy on the Ivy League and NESCAC), I found this fun article about Jay Wiliams' exploits in JCC leagues...
