The DBR Podcast picks up where it left off with Episode 218! On this show, the gang discusses all the love being shown for new Duke Women’s Basketball head coach Kara Lawson. We highlight some of the videos and messages that we enjoyed the most, from Jay Bilas to Candace Parker. We then get into the NBA bubble and how they’ve done a pretty good job of keeping it insulated from the coronavirus. We also make a note of Zion Williamson’s departure from the bubble due to a family emergency. We relate that to Major League Baseball (and the story of Freddie Freeman), the WNBA (and Elena Delle Donne’s fight with the league to opt out), and what colleges should be allowing student athletes to do this year.

After the break, we finish up with Josh Hairston, who is currently in law school and wants to become a sports agent. We remark on this career shift and him getting back into basketball on a path that few former Duke players have taken.

I was a little confused about a story in the podcast so I looked it up. Candace Parker never really had a great game against Duke. 2006 was the game in Cameron where we crushed them and caused the end of the series. 2007 was the one in Knoxville where we had an unbelievable start and spent the rest of the game holding on, which will be on ACC Network on Wednesday so we can re-live the point when Abby Waner just casually picked the ball up somewhere near halfcourt and launched it in perfectly. They barely beat us in Cameron in 2008 and she had a solid, but not fantastic game, and they barely beat us despite them being the champions and us not having a great season.

In 2008, she had 17 points and 12 rebounds. That's a big game. If that's not a big game, Vernon Carey and Elizabeth Williams never had a big game at Duke. She commanded the floor and she may not have shot well, but she was the best player on the floor that night and basically every other night she played in college.

It's on podcast #220, but Donald, you missed the opportunity to say "You mess with the bubble, you get the trouble."

I'm disappointed Donald. Disappointed.
