Sutton was an incredibly skilled coach who consistently put teams on the court which played defense and offense at a high level. His Oklahoma State teams played at the top of the league every year with the same talent as the teams at the bottom of the league.

Wasn't he the coach at Arkansas in 1978 in the Final Four? They lost to KY.

Yes. They gave Kentucky a good game in the semis.

That was a very entertaining team, built around the perimeter trio of Sidney Moncrief, Ron Brewer and Marvin Delph. Moncrief is one of my all-time favorite players, and I had this SI cover with him on my wall as a high school hoopster.

I rode down in an elevator at the hotel with Moncrief and Brewer. They were very friendly.

Watched a bit of a replay of an Arkansas game that I really enjoyed: 1984 UNC vs Arkansas in Pine Bluff. My Hogs upset the #1 Tar Heels. Lots of great players on the floor in that game, many I had forgotten about. Coach Sutton had some great teams in AR. May he Rest In Peace.
