It's funny how increased access and flow of information via the internet can mean actually less information. (Because I do dabble in the economics of the internet I could talk a long time about why that's so, but I'll try not to go off topic on the first page.) Anyway, does anyone know anything about the NW Missouri State Generic Nicknames? What kind of game they play, who their starters are and what they are about and so on?

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats are the 2017 and 2019 Division II National Champions. They are coached by Ben McCollum who is in his eleventh season. Colors are green and white.

They have a nice mix of experience and youth, and have a lot of recent success in the tournament. I'm guessing they are going to give our Devils a good fight for longer than we think before the Devils ultimately pull away.

Thought I was good to go with these, but something apparently went wrong somewhere in the byzantine relationships between those three frustrating entities, so no basketball to salve the wound left by that football game.

I'm seeing from the box scores that we're off to a poor shooting performance from deep so far. Anyone watching able to say if that just looks like jitters or a worrying continuation of the trend from the Countdown?

We came out of a TO with a more defensive line-up of Goldwire, Tre, Hurt, Jav and Stanley and they got a few steals and finally got Hurt the ball in the post and ran off a 6-0 spurt. They just answered with a 3 when our D slipped but we look better the last few mins.

The streaming channel situation is totally messed up. I signed up for Sling to get the ACC network and ACCNx...this game isn't on it - BUT I found it on the ESPN app which I set up using my Sling credentials. I also have Hulu for a 7 day trial to watch the World Series and it has the ACC Network but *not* ACCNx so it doesn't carry it.

Weirdly when I went to watch the football game and selected it on the ACC Network, rather than telling me it was blacked out in my area (which I expected) it *redirected* me to some Fox Sports affiliate which I didn't know I had. Progress! The Aristocrats!

We’re a little challenged at the end where you score tonight; Half court offense nearly non existent; the wrong person shooting often.

Focusing on the D was the key to taking the lead. It is definitely going to take some time to figure out this rotation, but I’d say playing good D seems like the way to get tick at this point.

Seems like we’re going to have a lot of “offense/defense” choices between guys like Hurt and O’Connell vs Moore/Goldwire/Stanley.

Defensively going small really helped, but going 5 around the perimeter on offense with that lineup made no sense given that there was so little shooting respect that the spacing did nothing to open up the lane. Might as well send some of those bodies inside to try and rebound.

I am only listening but the D is active. Can't stop them from hitting threes. 8-18 and Duke is 1-12

Jones is playing well; he’s bigger and much more physical. If the only evidence were tonight, you’d say Moore was a great defensive player with nothing on offense. Hurt is very fluid and is going to be special. Stanley just hit a three and until that had been silent. Carey got some fouls none of which create any particular concerns. Not great with the ball under pressure. Goldwire has been very steady. Jack looks like he did the first part of last year — fresh legs. K is very engaged in teaching — as have been the assistant coaches. Tre talking to teammates a lot o dead balls; students engaged. Full house because it’s parents weekend.

When we have fed Hurt at the elbow and let him create, good things have happened.

K has played a lot of different line-ups. It’s a tough game for the bigs because this squad is relatively small and perimeter oriented. We took control when we went small and defensive with Tre, Jordan, Wendell, Stanley and Jack White in the first half.

A lot of the offense has run through Hurt at the elbow in the second half and he’s been able to drive with either hand and dish. We really don’t create a lot of open 3s, and we don’t make many either.

There have been a ton of different line-ups, and guys who played big roles in some parts of the game then don’t play for long stretches.

Well, not a hugely encouraging game, but good to get pushed early (I'm sure K has no problem with having this game to use as a stick to push the guys in practice). I'm going to blame the somewhat lackluster performance on a combination of early-season youngteamness and a cosmic reaction to the disastrous ACC Network rollout situation. We'll be better going forward. (Hopefully the same can be said for the ACC Network...)
