That is beyond impressive!

And beyond intimidating!

I thought Alejandro Viilenueva at 6' 5" was a badass Ranger

Wow, very impressive indeed! Congrats to Marshall! I wonder if he is the tallest graduate of ranger school...I'm also not sure height would be much of an advantage in battle situations, maybe even a hindrance, but regardless that's a hell of an accomplishment.

Marshall has a good bit of that Plumlee athleticism and hops....I'm surprised he didn't have an NBA career....but man, Special Forces? Special indeed. Well done sir!!!

Special Forces?

Well, Special Operations. Still quite impressive, especially for a man of his stature.

Maybe Ken Burns's next documentary could cover Marshall's decisions to enter the Army, then delay for the NBA, then resume, then Ranger school. An amazing journey.

Yes, very impressive and congrats to Marshall!

Villeneuva was listed at 6'10" when he played for Army and is listed at 6'9" by the Steelers.

From Stars & Stripes (https://www.stripes.com/news/ranger-school-graduates-include-first-woman-in-air-force-to-earn-tab-7-foot-former-nba-player-1.596961):

“From the NBA to leading the way!” wrote Gen. David Hodne, head of the Army’s Infantry School at Benning, in a tweet accompanying a photo of himself with Plumlee at the school’s rappel tower. “Proud of today’s Ranger School graduates including 2LT Marshall Plumlee.”

The picture is fabulous!

Excellent observation. He is a solid 2 planks taller than everyone else.

It is tough- but nothing like a K practice after a bad game. Marshall was well prepared.

Clearly Marshall needs to be out front as a Captain leading all those soldiers. I bet that will happen sooner than later knowing Marshall. Congratulations Marshall and GoDuke!

Talked to a friend of mine who went through ranger school.

Said he dropped 42 pounds over the course of the program.

Also said he was paired with a very fit former football player as a rappelling partner.

Can you imagine either being carried by Marshall while rappelling, and having in turn to rappel with him on your back? 😱👀😎

Makes for a quick trip down.

Can you imagine having to go back UP with him on your back?

Can someone tell me which one is Marshall? It's tough when everyone is wearing the same colors.

2nd Lt. Plumlee played for Duke University as a Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) cadet in 2015, the year they won their fifth NCAA Championship title. He trained under legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski, also known as Coach K, who also served in the Army and played for the Army basketball team.

Ranger School is brutal. I'm really impressed with MPIII.

A close family member of mine is Ranger certified, and I can attest to the brutality of the course. There are several sections (desert, swamp, backwoods) during which cadets are sleep deprived and given limited food while performing maneuvers as part of an infantry division. At the end of each section cadets are rated by their peers, and those who are rated lowest are cycled out and have to repeat that cycle. It is not for the faint of heart.
