Other Duke Sports Broadcasts 2019-20 Edition

As usual this thread will provide reminders, usually the day before, of Duke's non-basketball and football teams that you can watch. My personal rule is to not mention subscription internet broadcasts, but anyone else who wants to should not feel any pressure to not do so. ACCNX broadcasts on the ESPN app or website will be mentioned by me even though you will need to be a subscriber to ACC Network.

The first Duke sports event of the year is Women's Soccer facing La Salle at 4pm ET on Thursday. It happens to be the first ACCNX broadcast ever too, debuting before the television network.

Women's soccer visits the other local team at 6pm ET on Sunday. The game is on ACCNX and hopefully all authentication issues will be solved by then, but I would not be expecting that. It would be nice if everyone could just agree to unblock these games for everyone until everyone who is supposed to have access gets it. Of course, the real question is why this game was not selected for the main television network considering that it is a matchup of preseason top 10 teams and a big rivalry game.

Duke's first live event on the ACC Network television channel will be on Wednesday when Women's Soccer hosts Georgetown at 7pm ET.

Friday will be good on ACCNX if you can get it, but I guess those in the area can always go to campus for these games.

Field Hockey opens their season against Penn State at 6:00pm ET.

Men's Soccer opens their season against Furman at around 7:30pm ET with the length of the preceding game determining the actual start time.

ACCNX is available for online viewing, but may be blacked out within the conference footprint, leaving the online services of the channels above as the only streaming choice, but that never gets announced.

They do this once pretty much every year, often during the Super Bowl. North Carolina Central is generally pretty weak opposition so players outside the normal lineup usually get to play. I suppose it could also be useful conditioning practice for the ACC and NCAA Tournaments.

I would also point out that the softball team is having a pretty impressive start to the season, at 22-4, including some innings-rule drubbings of lesser competition, and an away win at fourth-ranked Texas. This weekend's series at home against #13 FSU is going to have a big impact on our ACC standings (assuming the games can be held under the new Duke coronavirus policy - a point which isn't completely clear at the moment).
