ACC hurting due to small schools...so many of them.....Big 12 the lack of TV markets.......not even in the same league.

Is this just a matter of football being king? What's driving the big disparities--ticket prices, TV deals, merchandise?

It is in the article - the TV networks drive a ton of revenue. The hope is that the ACC Network will help bridge the gap.

The ACC's low revenue is pretty amazing considering the number of National Championships the Conference competes for consistently. I guess the breadth of competition in football just isn't enough.

I will add that being below the PAC-12 is an embarrassment.

It is notable that all the conferences ahead of The ACC have their own television network. Maybe the ACC climbs these rankings once ACC Network gets going.

Has to be looked at as revenue per school:

REV NO AVE
758.9 14 54.2 Big 10
659.9 14 47.1 SEC
496.9 12 41.4 Pac-12
464.7 14 33.2 ACC
373.9 10 37.4 Big 12

And the ACC is overstated because it excludes Notre Dame, which certainly gets a portion of basketball revenue.

The B1G is more per school as Maryland and Rutgers still aren’t getting a full share (I think that finally kicks I next year.)

How much did UNC pay in legal fees to avoid NCAA penalties?

My guess is 33 million more than covered their "blood" money.

One of the first laws of business: "you can't beat demographics." The ACC has poor demos compared to other conferences. The entire fan bases of Duke, Wake, BC can fit into half of Neyland Stadium......(yes, I'm exaggerating to make a point...)

There’s more to demographics than number of alumni. The ACC has a larger number of people living in its footprint than any other conference. Alums aren’t the only college sports fans. Otherwise, how would one explain that Duke is the most watched BB school and Notre Dame is one of the most watched schools in FB, if not the most watched
