I’m only half way through the pod but one thought came to mind.
The players that seemed the most emotionally stunted by the Zion loss were mostly the upperclassmen. Cam and RJ kept grinding. Tre’s scoring hurt but he kept Cody White from impacting the game and worked hard the second half. But where was the leadership of those who had been there before? Perhaps this is the problem when your captains are roll players and one has disappeared entirely. 6pts from Javin and nothing from any other player Sophs and up. That was a big part of the story.

As an aside, in the history of the program, has someone had the trajectory of Jack White in one season, ever?

Oh, and I had a ticket to the game (wasn’t free) and if you think Z’s injury was bad, try having two connecting flights delayed for very different reasons (one was simply a Delta paperwork snafu) and arriving at the game with 10 mins left.
So Jason, yes this was the worst game ever, if only for me!:mad:

My memory may be fading, but I feel like Greg Newton went from key player to not even playing during the 1997 season.

I think we need to see what the next few games hold for Jack. I am hopeful he can find his way back to being useful on the court... but if he does not I suspect we are going to see more and more of Joey Baker.

Actually that is a good (bad) memory. At the time of the first Duke-UNC game in January Newton was our leading scorer on the season (I think) and was a key contributor to that win. By the time of the NCAA tournament loss to Providence, he did not play a minute. But I seem to recall that there were leadership/off court issues there.

Here's to Jack bouncing back. He seems like a high character guy who's having trouble maintaining confidence.

Plagiarism in a computer science class, IIRC, though that wasn't the only thing that led to his diminished role on the team.

Congrats on reaching episode 150! I have listened to almost every single one and have enjoyed its progression as the pod team has developed. I read somewhere that the average podcast lasts seven episodes, so it is a testament to your abilities that the DBR pod is still going as strong as ever!

It is a testament as well to the listeners who have given us great feedback and support. I am stunned when I see our downloads each week. We will likely have north of 25,000 listens this month... and it ain't even March!
