Raleigh Bar/Pub for Duke Fans?

I'll be traveling in Raleigh Wednesday - I wondered if there was any particular sports bar or hang out that is Duke friendly for the Cheats games....

You might go about 18-20 miles west on I-40 and the Durham Freeway and find a Durham pub.

Well I thought about that....but with a 9 o clock start, and I have a busy Thursday, I'd rather not be coming back from Durham that late. Besides, even though Duke is in Durham, a lotta cheat fans out that way. I was a vendor for Duke for a while, Duke Med, and I was shocked at how many outright Carolina fans WORKED AT DUKE. Shameful.

Just my opinion, but the Carolina Ale House spots are good overall sports bars with tons of TVs, better than average pub food, and well run. There are a few in the Raleigh area, from Wake Forest on down to North Raleigh and over in the Briar Creek area; check for your best location.

If you want a sports bar that will decidedly NOT be pro-Carolina, check out Amedeo's on Western Blvd. in Raleigh. It is a big NC State hangout, and I guarantee you they will not be rooting for the Heels.

For most games, yes. But on this night, no man(or woman) should support anything with the name "Carolina" in it. :cool:

Yeah, Carolina Ale House would be where I would go if I don't get a good Duke Raleigh lead. But there will be Heel fans there in any of the Raleigh area locations. As for Amedeos, yeah, I'm familiar with that one, but State fans hate Duke badly now, and I assume that's still a State hangout.

So hoping for a hot lead, but short of that, I'll do Ale House on Falls of Neuse or maybe Fox and Hound North Hills....and put up with some heel fans.

For a guy who lives in western NC BBQ area, that's a pretty good summary. ;)

Not a Duke bar, but Hooters in Cary has good viewing. They also have TV’s for watching games. And it’s close to Raleigh.

There will be (obnoxious) cheater fans there.
