Just a note to say how much I appreciate this site-the articles daily, which is my first stop every morning. The scintillating comments and opinions on the board at times humorous and ofttimes informative. Always enjoy the input from Mr. Summer and Wiseman.

Wish the best for all in the coming great year for all Duke sports !

I suspect you meant to say cosign, but on the other hand my trigonometry is a bit rusty.

The only geometric proof I remember from 9th grade is the proof of infinity:

For every X, there is an X+1.

Simple, brilliant.

From ‘all the best season’s greetings’ ... through puns...algebra/trig/geometry...to Zion’s infinite potential and beyond! This is why I spend way too much of my life here, (albeit mostly anonymously) on DBR...

Merry Christmas!

While I'm, happy to wish all the DBRers a happy holiday season wishe them well in their endeavors and health, I want to take a moment to thank the DBR's Julio (OK, Julian King) and his team, including brother -jk, for at least 23 years of wonderful work. I came to the Board shortly after it left the Newsgroups and presented itself on the Web as a site backed by a parquet floor. It was only a month or so later that the infamous DoS attack struck, forcing our unready and inexperienced owners to run raggedly for a while (samizdat?) I think that was 1995. Then came James A's program which lasted until 2007. Some of the earlier participants had already began supporting the DBR team financially and DBR got over the hump. The rest is history. Amazing supporters came out of the woodwoork--e.g, Al/Oly, Jumbo and a bunch of volunteer moderators.

So, I'd like to raise a glass of Christmas cheer to Julio for creating something good from nothing! Good work! All the Devils love you.

Anyway, thank you all for brightening my days. Especially the ones who do the work behind the scenes to make this all happen. Merry New Year!

I hope this thread does not get too derivitive.

(It figure that a thread about DBR would devolve to puns. Godwin’s Law of DBR).

We really do need a "<poster's> Law" for it, but the puns have been going on for so long, who could possibly be given the honor correctly?

I only started posting under this username in 2015, but I know the pun tangents have appeared for so much longer - does anyone have a best, first example of pun criticality (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_mass)?

I would not be surprised if it went back to these (http://web.archive.org/web/19991128084456/http://dukebasketballreport.com:80/) days.

Speaking of which, perusing the archiving led me to a reading list (http://web.archive.org/web/20000613230819/http://www.dukebasketballreport.com:80/dbr/booklist.html) containing the following insight:

Men's Basketball Coach, University of Delaware

Like Lefty Driesell once said, "I don't know any good books, but I know who the best high school players are in the East!!"

Blue Devils look good. Tell everyone I said "hi".

Also, file "chrestomathy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrestomathy)" under words I like (https://forums.dukebasketballreport.com/forums/showthread.php?41978-Words-you-dislike-Or-really-like&p=1111032#post1111032).

Sorry for the lack of puns...

I've been offline for a few days. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and wish everyone a Happy New year.

Reading other social media sites for sports teams really makes me appreciate DBR. Wish I could find something even someone moderated on Facebook or Twitter. Anyway, thanks for another great year of following Duke basketball and various other interests. I don't remember when I first joined...had to be about 20 years ago. Thanks again for everyone who posts here and keeps it informative and interesting.

Given all the other trends on public forums, and unbending tendency towards punnery seems positively quaint.

Of course, there are other trends towards "Dean Knew," "Boozer was fouled," "next season minutes projections," and "Nate James." Though I suspect the last of that series to be a natural response to his gravitational pull.
