In the various post game threads and the phase thread there is a lot of nitpicking of player performance so with a week or so before the next game what is the general status of the team.

1. Thrilled with the m2m defense. Have not seen it this good in years. This all starts with the point guard and Tre is delivering.
2. The defense also depends on wings denying the first pass and R.J. , Zion, Cam are also showing up in this category. Alex is also starting to get this
3. Bigs need to hedge and get back for the defense to work and all three are getting this
4. On offense there are multiple threats on the fast break and 3/4 threats who can create offense if Cam gets out of his shooting funk

5. Intensity from the start of a game and for 40 minutes is an issue that can be fixed
6. Free throw shooting is an issue that may not be easy to fix unless the players take time on their own

I’m sure there are other items but this team is much further along then the past few years because of their defense

Hard to nitpick too much - we're top 5 in O and D on Kenpom.

One thing: as much as I love Zion's play, he needs to get better at deciding where to gamble and where to be conservative on defense. When he's playing in position, he's rock solid. When he gambles and wins, it's epic - usually a thunderous dunk!

But when he gambles and misses (alas, more often than not), he winds up way out of place, and one of them is open for an easy shot, and we're short of rebounders.

Well, that and we need to keep working communicating switch/hedge/ice decisions.
