It may be more accurate to say that Duke is the bubble.

A week ago, it looked like the Blue Devils were in good shape, sitting with a RPI of 39 and a respectable SOS (including a top-10 win). Then came the home loss to the RPI number 166 Cheaters. That knocked them down to 48. Now, the number 48 team in the RPI usually gets into the tournament, but Duke has two big issues: (1) double-digit losses and (2) four teams ahead of them in the ACC. As far back as I can remember, the ACC has never gotten five bids. It’s probably the weakest of the power five conferences.

The selection show is Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. Eastern. Fingers crossed.

How far back is that? The ACC had five bids last year (Pitt, Notre Dame, State, FSU, and Miami). It is still weak, just not as weak as the one and two bid days.

Unfortunately this team has had a number of excruciating losses alongside some dramatic wins.

Pretty gruesome draw: Loyola Marymount (the only team to beat BYU) in the first round, followed by a potential second-round matchup with overall top seed Stanford.

Still, in is better than not in.
