I believe Sam for two reasons:

1. He is a stand up guy.
2. I never doubted Duke was going to win.

I now regret spending a few minutes today handing out pitchforks all over the "sneaky teams we don't want to see in the NCAAT" thread, because this is the most pitchfork-worthy post on the board today.

Seriously, if I said it once, I said it a dozen times in the second half in between sips from a souvenir-sized beer at the watch party. We were always going to win that game.

Great pod fellas, listened while making dinner.
Laughed at you spending more time debating Harden ‘bron more than discussing the UNC game.
To me its worth a DBR poll. Count me in for LeBron.
Donald, I’m a huge soccer fan myself and to me, Wes Johnson needed to pull what most self respecting soccer player would do at that point, FAKE INJURY. Miss the next two games because of a ruptured tendon of some sort, then quietly demand a trade. Simple.

Had an hour long drive to an interview today, and I was looking forward to it because I knew I had the podcast waiting on me. Thanks guys! Another great episode.

He needn't have faked any injury... we all saw his ankles get broken on that play :p

re: Marvin Bagley destroying Luke Maye

There were a couple dunks that caused me to text some fellow Duke fans the following: Bagley's out here ending dude's careers tonight.

Which spawned a serious question that I have for you all. Namely, can Luke Maye dunk?

I honestly don't think he can. He chooses to lay it up almost every time.

Yes... but there are not many videos of it and they all seem to be ones where he gets a running start. Whether he can dunk off a regular post move (the way Bagley and Carter do a dozen times a game) is open to question.

So if you clear the lane for him and give him a running start, he can barely get the ball over the rim despite being 6'8"? And this is assuming that Marvin Bagley didn't end his career on Saturday. I think the answer is that Luke Maye could dunk, at some point, but we're unclear if it will ever happen again now that he has contracted a severe case of the Bagleys.

I think Maye is likely closer to 6’6 than 6’8. But seriously, the guy was ranked around 150 coming out of high school. His YouTube mixtape featured extended sequences of him tying his shoes. And he is now a first team All-ACC player. His lack of athleticism only makes it more impressive that he has put up the numbers that he has.

Yup yup yup. We can bag on Maye for looking goofy and being the very definition of alarmingly unathletic all we want, but he has worked his butt off to become a really good college basketball player. He's showing up on more than a few 2nd and 3rd team All-American lists this season and he absolutely deserves to be there. I expect him to be preseason ACC POY (doubt he will win it because the Heels won't be good enough next season and we have several kids ready to pull a Bagafor on the POY/Rookie race next season). Full credit to Maye for all his success. Hard not to appreciate and maybe even respect a kid like that...

He has had plenty of time to work on his game. He really has no other responsibilities over there....

Another great and entertaining pod, guys. I did check out Lebron and the beard afterwards!

I enjoyed the podcast as always, listening as I drove from Greensboro to Raleigh yesterday morning. As I almost never watch the nba unless a Duke alum in playing, I'll have to look for the Hardin and 'Bron clips when I have time.

http://crazietalk.net/ourhouse/images/smilies/devil9f.gifI must say I am disappointed that you didn't include the DUMB bonus trackhttp://crazietalk.net/ourhouse/images/smilies/devil9f.gif while/after discussing the carolina game. Maybe later this week if it works out that they advance past Miami and we get to beat them again! http://crazietalk.net/ourhouse/images/smilies/devil9f.gif

Another great podcast. 9F. One of my favorite things to do is play your podcast on my 90 minute drive to work. It makes the drive more enjoyable and seem much less. I believe because the Harden move was planned than it should win the debate. Lebron’s move although not planned to go through Thompson’s Legs was really sick. But it was not planned. Go with Harden.

Really enjoy every podcast y’all post. I travel to several different clients throughout my workday and your podcast is my go-to entertainment between clients. Love hearing each person’s point of view and I catch myself wanting to join in on the conversation. Keep up the good work!

I can't believe Jason Evans didn't mention this reference. The Harden clip reminded me of this clip of Childress crossing up McInnis in the 1995 ACC tourney...

Not just Jason. We're all good enough ACC historians that we should have referenced that move. I was 5 when that happened but of course I've seen the highlight before. Many thanks for bringing that to our attention.

I tend to give you a pass on things that were pre-2000. This was my freshman year, and he was unguarable that weekend. Even before he dropped 40 on us in the first game, we called him "The Duke Killer," because he and Duncan had our number for a good 3 year stretch. Playing against Childress was kind of like playing against Bonzie, in that you knew he could get hot at any time and just bury you.

His performance from that weekend set a record for most points scored in the ACC tournament that (I believe) still stands. I thought maybe Jason Tatum would have had a shot last year with 4 games, but even with the extra game he was still about 20 points shy of Childress's record.

"Lifting the Deacons on his spindly back, Childress scored 40 against the Blue Devils, 30 against the Cavaliers and 37 against the Tar Heels in what has to be the great performance in the 61-year history of the ACC Tournament. His flair for the dramatic was at its most exquisite when he nailed a 10-foot runner with four seconds remaining in overtime to simultaneously break a tournament scoring record that had stood since 1957 and lift the Deacons to their first ACC title since 1962."
