0:00 Thanks to our sponsors, Byrd Campbell, for making this all happen.
0:30 Introductions… in which Donald brags about his success with the ladies.
2:10 Duke loses to Va Tech. We try to process what happened and Jason asks the big question – is Duke a better team minus Marvin Bagley?
7:55 Sam and Donald vociferously object when Jason utters two words, “Dan Dakich”
10:35 Jason talks ball movement and turnovers, especially in the final few minutes.
12:30 Sam and Jason go apoplectic about Duval getting the ball to get fouled with :25 left.
17:45 We turn to the Louisville game and Sam lauds the defensive effort.
22:00 Donald gives us the view from Cameron because he was at the Louisville game.
24:55 The D and the dunks were the story against Syracuse
28:25 Time to talk about the Carolina rematch. We focus on rebounding, Bagley’s progress, and the pace of play as keys to the game.
30:30 Jason says Duke is a completely different team from when we played Carolina 3 weeks ago.
32:45 We kick off the conversation about the FBI/Arizona scandal with some words from our sponsor, the lawyers at Byrd Campbell.
35:30 Listener Zalman Goldstein asks a question – are the schools to blame for the wrongdoing of the players?
39:00 Sam says the “bad guys” here, the agents and shoe companies, maybe aren’t so bad after all.
43:30 Donald talks about Sean Miller… he uses words like weasel and snake. Donald does not like Sean Miller.
49:45 Jason answers the questions about what the FBI is doing investigating all this stuff. He also warns that this investigation has been going on for a while… and there is a lot more bad stuff to come.
56:00 Another listener question, from William Parks. He wants to talk about how you respond to the Duke haters. Donald has much experience in this arena.
1:02:50 Player of the week… Bolden and Carter get some love.
1:04:35 Parting shots – Donald… wait, Sam begins with talk about the return of Bonzie Colson and he offers props to Buzz Williams for telling his fans to stop cursing.
1:09:30 Parting shots – Donald is finally ready. He talks some crazy basketball boxscores.
1:11:00 Parting shots – Jason tells the story of the Iowa’s Jordan Bohannon intentionally missing a free throw.
1:13:35 Goodbye and Duke band.

Donald does not like Sean Miller.

I was floored by this revelation, and I'm still processing it 16 hours after we recorded. Who knew that Donald harbored such hate for a coach who's never coached in any conference that Donald's teams play in?

Thanks again to those who have emailed us with questions. Keep them coming at dbrpodcast@gmail.com

Between dating three women on one night and taking down Sean Miller, Donald was the star of this podcast.

One question I have on the switch to zone - why has Duke taken its foot off the gas on our transition offense? Previously this was something I thought we did rather well, while we could struggle in the half court a bit. Several times vs. VT we had chances to push tempo and we chose to walk the ball up and allow the defense to get set. VT in comparison, ran on every turnover they could and got 24 transition points. We did occasionally run vs. Clemson, Cuse, and UL, but mostly via turnovers from the press.

Can't we be a zone team that also runs the fast break? Why are the two mutually exclusive?

Only theories I can come up with is we have a higher focus on our guards rebounding out of the zone rather than releasing, or that we were gassed vs. VT and wanted to shorten the game.

I do a lot of phone conferencing for work, and I have this weird thing where it’s difficult for me to talk to a group of people when I’ve never met them in person and thus don’t know what they look like. It’s especially hard for me to distinguish among the voices and identify who is talking. So I end up picturing in my head what I think they look like based on their voice. I know, it’s completely idiotic but I do the same thing when I listen to podcasts. Otherwise the speakers all blend together and I can’t separate them.

In my mind, Jason has always looked like Kiefer Sutherland from 20 years ago, Donald looks like the actor Donald Glover from the show Community, and Sam looks like Freddy Prince Jr. So there you go.

I am prepared to receive flames from the Ymm Beer community for my beverage choices, but I took this picture at Coors Field, so I preemptively object to any harsh judgement.

Also, my beard is much fuller now. Jason really dug through my Twitter to find that bad boy.
