Unlike Army and Navy, whose athletic programs are privately funded, Air Force relies on appropriated funds. All of the Falcons’ games this weekend were postponed or cancelled. College Crosse is reporting that Monday practices are also cancelled.
It’s safe to assume that as long as the current government shutdown lasts, there will be no lacrosse activities at AFA. Is there a point of no return? No one is saying so, but it feels like 1/29 would be the day. If a men’s D1 team doesn’t have a full week of practice heading into its season opener, that’s a safety issue—particularly for a team whose fall practice was heavily disrupted by disciplinary action involving both players and coaches.
