View Full Version : RIP Keith Jackson
ESPN is reporting that legendary broadcaster, Keith Jacskon, has died at the age of 89.
The voice of college football (although he covered many sports), when I think of KJ I think college football.

I used to always go into my poor Keith Jackson impression whenever a Michigan game was on the air.
"And... it's first. and. ten. for the University of Michigan."
You can probably hear it just by reading the words. A great broadcaster. Rest in peace.

A lot of us had Keith Jackson impressions: "Big strapping boy!"

Agree with all. He was the voice of college football for a generation. Did not matter who was playing, if he was in the booth, it was a game worth watching.

Jackson was outstanding for the overwhelming majority of his career. I never wanted him to retire. He will be missed.
I believe Jackson's first ABC college broadcast in the 1960s was Clemson @ Duke.

He will be missed. I was just thinking of him recently when watching the Rose Bowl as that was one of his signature events.

Yes, he was the voice of college football but wasn't he also the "thrill of victory and agony of defeat" voice for Wide World of Sports?

Jim McKay, father of Sean McManus, Duke ‘77. Sean is, or was, president of CBS Sports. Or was it ABC? I forget. LGD GTHc! 9F!
