Who was Man of the Match in Duke's 78-61 win over Southern tonight?

Carter was awesome. Bagley was very good, too.

Carter. Offense and defense he was the best on both ends.

Wendell Carter is a smooth operator in the low post and earned my MOTM vote with his 20 points, 11 rebounds double double. His six blocks were equally impressive on the defensive end.

Runner-up: Marvin Bagley with 19 points and 11 rebounds but he fouled out, which is something to keep an eye on.

Honorable Mention: Gary Trent with 10 rebounds!

The high low pass from Bagley to Carter which resulted in Duke's first basket was beautiful. It is going to be a lot of fun watching these two guys.

Unanimity. The elusive dream of the opium dens.

The user account that broke this unanimous vote for Carter as MOTM also left this comment on the MOTM thread after the Mich. St game:

"Will it be unanimous?" (a reference to whether or not Grayson will get a unanimous vote after his dominant performance)

That user also voted for Grayson after the MSU game, hoping for unanimity.

I've never been the lone dissenter before and have nearly always sided with the "winner". Can I change my vote?

Bagley came back from an eye injury and put up 19 and 11--not too shabby, but Carter is a very deserving choice for MOTM, and sure enough he picked up 99+% of the votes.

I'll try to conform in the future.

No, call it like you see it. My comment certainly is not picking on a difference of perspective.

Now, the vote for Vrank in the Michigan State game by contrast — someone’s got some ‘splaining to do.

I've played the foil to unanimous votes in the past but will toe the line this time.

There have been far more egregious examples of contrarianism than voting for Bagley over Carter.

Yup. And from what little I have seen so far, Bagley is not a bad choice in about any poll.

It seems to me that after the MSU game (and many others) that there is a misconception as to what the MOTM is. To me, it's the guy that we don't win without. (Obviously in a loss that is a bit different, so maybe the guy that we don't get beaten worse without.)
Many times, we've come close to unanimous and there is always that voter who says "well obviously x was great but I liked seeing something new or that spark from y."
Kudos to "y", but new and sparky isn't the reason we win. It contributes, but a contributor is a bit different than MOTM.
Oh well, like I said after MSU, if it wasn't unanimous then, it never will be.
