Since the off season threads are in full swing...

You are shipwrecked and stuck on a desert island for the rest of your life.

You have plenty of food, beer, etc.

The only other survivor is a UNC basketball player.

Who are you stranded with and why?

Wayne Ellington. Seems like a pretty nice guy; good friend of one of our players, if i recall correctly.

I'll suggest three options:

Jason Capel, not because of his brother Jeff necessarily.
(8-20, anyone?)

Matt Doherty (see above).

Almost any member of the 2010 UNC team that played in the 82-50 game.

Wouldn't Sean May be the most likely to be on a dessert island? Or did I not read that right?

A UNC Cheerleader. Look, you can be stranded on a desert island with Hunter Thompson, J.D. Salinger or a Nobel Prize winner of your choosing (Linus Pauling would be my choice) but eventually the conversation is going to get a little stale.

If there wasn't enough food, I would take Kennedy Meeks so that I would end up having plenty of food.

Without, I'll take Vince Carter, nice dude, lots of stories.

Gerald Henderson and he were best friends.

There's not a lot of food on some of those desert islands, so I could get hungry. So, if I had to carry my emergency rations on the hoof, I think I'd like it to be Matt Doherty.

Brad Daugherty, by a mile.

Easily the classiest and most likable UNC player ever. Heck, I like Brad better than almost any Duke player.

Destinee Walker or Emily Sullivan.

Does Fats count as a team member?
Debbie Crowder??

Otherwise I pick Will Graves. I'd like to hang out and chat about NIT losses and seasons up in smoke.

Let me check the roster of their women's team? Could we substitute the Duke gals?

As a member of Mt. Hatemore, the answer has to be one of the following:

1. No one.
2. I'll build a raft.
3. I'll learn to swim. Quickly.

As a human being, the answer has to be Steve Hale because my daughter roomed with his daughter for a summer session or two and they both will graduate from UNC Medical School next month. I don't think my daughter ever told her that story and I'd have to ask him, "Did you think that was a great chant by the Crazies?" Plus, he's a fellow physician.

Antawn Jamison is the ONLY UNC player I ever respected. He is a class act and a very good player. He played the game right and was a decent NBA player. I hated that I liked him but I loved the way he got a rebound and quickly put the ball back up.

envious of Mt. Hatermore, i'll take tyler hansbrough.......and then show him that gerald henderson "all ball" block every single morning....

i'm pretty sure i could take out 30 years of unc hate on him daily....

I swear, Your Honor, I was the only survivor.

Ok, I'll play nice. I'd take Sean May. You know, just in case we meet cannibals and they are extra hungry. I'm pretty lean. They'd take Sean over me any ol' day.

This thought experiment is too hard. I can barely process being stranded on earth with 7 billion other people knowing that George Karl is one of them.

Tough choice, but fun to ponder. Would not feel terribly guilty killing ANY tar heel, thus preserving the resources for me alone. Which one would I feel LEAST guilty killing? MJ, Hanstravel, the black pigeon (might be a delicacy ...) ... fun to ponder.

Ol Dante was a big Pearl Jam fan I think (it's really sad what pointless factoids sit in your brain) so you could discuss music with him as well as all the various hair products he used in the 90's.

Leah Metcalf. I hated her as a player for a long list of thuggish acts, but she seems to be a bright young woman (four-time ACC academic honors as a math major) with some integrity (she was plaintiff in the unsuccessful action alleging that athletes who were shunted into the bogus courses were defrauded). And she ... ummm ... photographs well.

Tyler Hansbrough. As a very experienced traveler I'm sure he would be well prepared for any situations that should arise.

Hahaha. I'm glad you said this first because I've been thinking along those lines since first reading this thread. No matter which Heel I choose, I'll be eating him within a day. Hey, can't blame me. It's life or death, what would you do?, I'm a survivor, a hero, actually.

George Karl is my pick, btw. Giving Seth Curry a hard time in the NBA as his coach because he's a Dukie, huh? That's despicable.

On a serious note, either Brad Daughtery ( simply because I have always respected him and I think he is a class act ) or Eric Montross cause he loves to fish and is pretty good at it so there would be the food supply. Not Tyler H because he could walk right by the rescue boat and not get called. But I could scare him every night by saying I thought I saw Gerald Henderson on the island. Maybe Jordan cause I would mess with him and tell him "the ocean is the bed" , then have to save him from drowning. Of course with him I could wait for the bookies to locate him and hitch a ride back with them. Whoever it is I would ask them to bring their diplomas so we could have some toilet paper and it would finally be of use.

Yep. Brad is my favorite Tar Heel, such as it is. Steve Hale also seemed like a decent guy.
