Blue Devil junior Jeremy McDuffie—also a safety on the football team—and graduate student Daniel Golubovic put Duke’s first points on the board by taking first and third in the 110-meter hurdles, respectively.

Duke found one last win in the field thanks to McDuffie, who triple-jumped 51 feet, 1.5 inches to break the original meet record of 49 feet, 9 inches.

When I saw the thread title - I assumed he either tore his ACL, ruptured his Achilles, broke his 5th metatarsal or has turf toe. Glad to hear good news.

Awesome! I can't help but worry though that one of these guys gets hurt running track and ends up missing FB. I guess I'm overly anal about it given how many darn injuries we just had this past FB and BB season. To be sure the sports guards will leave us alone in this arena in the 2017-18 Seasons?

It would be nice if the injury bug landed somewhere else this time.

McDuffie also ran a 200-meter leg for the sprint medley relay team that won the Tennessee Relays in 3:23.00, the third fastest mark ever at Duke. The relay unit came within nine-tenths of a second of breaking a school record that has stood since 1971 — a mark they will try again to best at the upcoming Penn Relays.

McDuffie also figures to compete at the Penn Relays in the triple jump, an event in which he is likely to score points at the ACC Championships two weeks later and in which he has a solid chance of qualifying for NCAA nationals, according to Duke director of track Norm Ogilvie.

Penn Relays are 27-29 April and the ACC Championships are 12-14 May.
