Not much said here with regards to Giles and Bolden who may be the key to us making a run in the tourney, especially if Jefferson continues to be hobbled. Also, nothing at all said about Jeter. He is a 6'10" McDonalds All American in his second year in the program. I know there was an injury but would have thought he deserves some mention along the way unless he is being held out for other reasons.

I appreciated Sam commenting about Duke's lack of regular season/ACC tournament titles over the past 6-7 years. I think he is correct that most of the rest of the nation doesn't really care and I think there are reasons for it. One, now that the regular season schedule is so unbalanced, the regular season title doesn't carry the same weight. Also, the 2005 - present era included a lot of years where Duke would win either the regular season or conference tournament and then under-perform our seed in the NCAAs. From 1986 - 2004, if we won either the regular season or the conference tournament, we'd usually back it up with a run to the Final Four. I think the two titles, but especially the 2015 title (because in 2010 we shared the regular season and won the tournament) has kind of left people to judge us only on Final Four runs. What I think is particularly revealing is that over the past 5 tournaments, we've only managed to get to the final game once. The Heels have been 4 of 5 years. It's like the script flipped in 2010...we started hauling in all the one-and-done recruits and not winning ACC titles and UNC has been building veteran teams who do.

Well, we spoke a lot about Bolden and Giles in the pervious episode ;)

As for Jeter, I suspect he may not play at all the rest of the season. Little has been mentioned about him beyond saying he had a herniated disc back in mid-January. He has not played at all since then (11 games) and it is hard to see him coming back and playing a role with even Bolden and Giles struggling to get more than a handful of minutes per game. I mean, even if he were healthy and in shape, Jeter is probably our #4 center at this point. Not a lot of minutes for that role.
