View Full Version : ESPN Graphics Typos
ESPN's attention to detail to its in-game graphics has been at an extremely high level lately. Here are two we recently caught in our house. It's become a fun game - spot the typo.

Easy mistake to make. The N and the C are only 4 letters apart on the keyboard ;)

Interesting how things can be viewed differently.
While the N and the C are the anchors of a string of 4 keys, I would say they are 3 keys apart. One could also say there are only two keys between them.
They are, you may note, typed with two different index fingers when using the traditional touch-type typing method. I imagine one prone to dyslexia might easily make this keying error - left index finger down a row vs. right index finger down a row.
BTW, DO NOT mistake me for an ESPN apologist.

Totally off topic, but I use my right index finger for the N, and my left middle finger for the C. I also use my left middle for other things related to the cheaters.

Left middle is probably correct. I wasn't properly trained.

Excuse me? I thought we were being civil!
I have a degree from a real University that is generally thought to be a top ten institution of Higher Learning! It's just that Mario Teaches Typing wasn't part of the core curriculum as it might have been down the road. (I wonder how many "student-athletes" broke their hands trying to master the semi-colon on Mario Teaches Typing. It was probably mega frustrating as they didn't know what it was used for!)

I'm assuming (hoping) you know I was being sarcastic. I shall never again not use the rolling eyes emoji!
Maybe that's why ESPN is rife with typos...they were also taught by Mario.

Actually, Mario was pretty cool. My oldest son learned how to type using it on an old Mac SE, I believe.

Graphic courtesy of ESPNU during the KU game.
Most TV operations fail at on-screen graphics. I have decided the problem is that they assign the lowest-level people to that job -- typically students working for little or no pay.
I'll give YES Network partial credit for this one

No screen grab, but the halftime graphic for the women's soccer tournament used the phrase "Elight Eight" - I'm assuming that's not what the NCAA is actually calling it.

Or, talking about "u"nc footwear, you know, the c*rolina socks.
(And, if I have to explain either, I'm starting off with frog stories .)
No matter how you spell it, we haven't been very good at foul shots.

On ESPN.com: “Will Ben Simmons Become the Next LeBron?”
That must be a typo right? 18 games into his career. Has to be a typo.
