‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through "Our House"
Not a crazie was stirring: not even a rouse;
The wires were hung by the rafters with care,
In hopes more title banners soon would be there;
The players were nestled all snug in their beds,
While "One Shining Moment" replayed in their heads;
heard out in kville: a zipping tent flap
as tenters laid down for a long winter’s nap,
When out on the floor there arose such a clatter,
I'd had far too much scotch to care what was matter.
The baskets were lowered, lights on with a flash,
I thought I was dreaming...perhaps too much hash.
The sheen shone so bright from the newly waxed floor
I slowly sat up wond'ring what was in store,
When, what to my wondering eyes should arise.
But a basketball rack, and eight proud Duke guys,
With a masterful leader, on his proud cross-court hike,
I knew in a moment it must be Coach Mike
More rapid than eagles his army they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
“Now, Giles! now, Jackson! now, Jeter and Jayson!
On, Kennard! on, Bolden! on, Amile and Grayson!
To the top of the key to the post MOVE THE BALL!
lets play like we're hungry, defend like a wall!”
As the condor above all the bird-dom will fly,
I saw Grayson run up and launch to the sky;
From all of creation then Kennard's shots flew,
He hit every one, and had handles too!
And then, on the far end, I felt my ears crankle
The inevitable sound as Frank broke someone's ankle.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the basket, brought Bolden, with a heavenly bound.
A pump fake to put his defender on heel,
A fantastic post move, 2 points to Amile;
With promise had been derailed with trials,
Onto the court stepped a now healthy Giles.
His eyes—how they flamed! his skill set so scary!
The e'r-present mismatch, defense must be wary!
Against every man who dared face him, he shone,
they ran off it fits, cursed the name "T-Bone!"
What coaching genius behind clench-ed teeth,
the aura of greatness 'round his head like a wreath;
He guided his players, and brought home the gold,
Effort and achievement his only mold.
The General and he were off the same shelf,
And I cheered when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And examined his team; then turned with a jerk,
And laid into Hess until red in the face,
Dan got a tech, but Duke won the race;
He sprang from his chair, as the ref blew the whistle,
and they flew from the floor as if riding a missile,
But I heard him exclaim, ere he vanished from sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night.”

Hope you all have a great week...and remember...

Ladies and gentlemen, you’ll be successful this holiday season if you can focus on three things, and three things only.
Your family
Your religion
and the Green Bay Packers.

Merry Christmas
