Since 1928-29 if they win this evening. I don't think any other program is close (thank you Doh and the Kentucky point shaving scandal).

Coach K's second and third years (10-17 and 11-17) were the closest it came to being tested. I was there, and mark this occasion every year as something not to be taken for granted.

The multiple lane violations by the Clemson free throw shooters my senior year helped keep the streak alive.

In the 1973-74 season, Duke was 10-16. The last win was Duke's 500th. Neill McGeachy's team just eeked out the 10th win to keep the streak alive. It was my sophomore year.

Ozzie ... you've made this mistake before.

First, Duke got it's 10th win in 1974 on Feb. 16 ... then lost its final five games.

And, more importantly, it was victory No. 9 -- over Virginia on Feb. 11 -- that was Duke's 1,000th all-time win (not the 500th).

It is unofficial, but Duke does have the longest streak of double-digit win seasons in major college basketball (dating back to 1927-28 ... when Duke was 9-5)

Which really wasn't a bad season.

I remember that season well. I was the lone crazy to attend all 5 home games. The peach baskets were cool, but they had a bottom. Slowed the game down considerably.

I was only 9 then, but I remember helping my sibs make "1,000" signs for that game. Unfortunately, I couldn't go to the game... I was in a body cast. :(

Anyone want a friendly wager on whether or not we get to 11?

Yes! I will give you any odds you want that this Duke team will have at least 11 wins this year.

As did the center jumps.

But on the bright side, we didn't have any TV timeouts.

Yup, you're right. I have. History repeats itself once again! I'll do better next time. If I remember! :D

My favorite ten-win season was in 2001.

Carlos' foot broke, and then we won ten games.
