Duke beat Army, so I'm pulling for Army. What a great tradition regardless of the victor though.

Go USA. Thanks for serving, and to all those who have served. God Bless.

Yes sir! Go Navy.

I'm the son of a Navy Vet and a brother of a Marine.

Yea, my father was a naval officer in World War II, so I have to root for Navy (I guess?).

Interesting story in today's NY Times sports page about how the Naval Academy (and the Air Force Academy and West Point, to a degree) has been able to field such strong football teams (Navy beat ND this year) by funneling many football players (and other athletes) through a specialized naval prep school in Rhode Island before they gain admission to the academy (somewhat of a racket, apparently). As the story points out, many of the things the academies are doing with athletes would be strictly forbidden under NCAA rules for other colleges and universities but exceptions have been made for the service academies. Frankly, like many of the problems affecting college athletics in general today (see the UNC scandal), the whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Shouldn't the overriding purpose of the academies (funded by taxpayers) be to train young men and women for leadership roles in our military branches? I, for one, don't care if they have good football teams (or other teams) or not Also, interesting that the Navy football coach is paid $1.6 million per year. Raises the question of whether or not he is the highest paid federal employee? (or pseudo federal employee?)

Bob Green, you were on the Carl Vinson, correct? I remember because I believe it was you that served on the same ship as my dad. Pretty cool.

Yes, I served aboard the USS Carl Vinson CVN 70 from January 1998 to February 2001. It was (and is) a great ship.

Ken Niumatalolo is paid by the NAAA not the Federal Government.

Has anyone here ever been to the game? Would love to go some day. Curious how difficult it is to buy tickets.

I have, but it was in 1982. My father was stationed at Carlisle Barracks at the time and there were 3 or 4 busloads of us. Navy won. :(

Promising early start for Army. Forever left to go however.

Halftime: Army 14, Navy 0.

The inexperienced quarterback is hurting Navy but the bigger issue is Army running all over the Navy defense. Thirty more minutes to turn things around.

Was pulling for Navy - father served, brother served, nephew currently serving. Going to an Army-Navy game is on my bucket list. Told Nephew Sam that his goal is to achieve high rank so he can take me and we will have great seats. :D

No pressure. :o

So usually I always pull for Navy - my dad served 20 years, his twin brother did 30, and there's other assorted family as well.
And I've been to the USNA at Annapolis many times, and have even been to a couple A/N games when I was younger.

However, 14 years is too long. Army needed a win and I was actually rooting for them. My thoughts were this is a truly special game, but there needs to be at least some parity, some aspect of uncertainty, some semblance of a real rivalry - to truly bring out that.

But now I can go back to rooting for Navy next year :)
