Inspired by a recent EarlJam post regarding terribly painful means of death/great band names (he suggested "Septic Shock"), I'm interested in hearing other people's ideas (for nonexistent bands, not your favorite existing bands). My personal favorites are:

-Dusty Fart
-Vinyl Salad
-Herman Wouk

Herman Woke would be funnier.

This is Dave Barry's exclusive domain. Some of his favorites: Jimmy Music and the Stomach Contents, Federal Duck (his college band) and my personal favorite, The Phlegmtones. He and Stephen King formed a band called The Rock-Bottom Remainders, another classic.

My husband is in a blues band made up of middle aged guys. At one point they were going to call themselves...

The Hip Replacements

... but the singer (a slightly younger guy who doesn't like "trick names" )ultimately objected. I thought it was a brilliant name myself.

In terms of real band names, are the Butthole Surfers still around?

When I was in high school, several friends and I got a band together to play at several school functions and called ourselves: Johnny Flush and the Pay Toilets, and later Burnt Taint.

Liquid Dog --- had a friend in the mid-80's who was seriously thinking of using this, but as far as I know, it's available. Found it humorous at the time.

Tina Tonsil and the Uvulettes --- for an all-female band.

Sam the Sham and the Phar... oops, already taken.

Horselips --- ditto. Had a decent hit in the late 70's.

Hakeem Khan and the Medullah Oblongattahs

Sylvia Browne and the Crossing Over Cold Callers

My thoughts of Little Billy Nose and the Runs pales in comparison to the list that has come before.

Junior year (87-88) a guy on my hall got on WXDU with a minimalist song called "Bahama Brahma". I forget what he called his "band". Guy went by JEB but those were his initials. Forget his name.
