Regarding JD's article about the drag ESPN is putting on Disney, I'll note that a few years back, Disney bought a significant stake in MLB advanced media. MLBAM runs the back end for the MLB's streaming packages and has since been employed for services like HBO Go. So, Disney/ESPN is well positioned to eventually go direct to the customer once it becomes fiscally and politically prudent to do so.
