Anyone using Nest Protect, Roost or Birdi?

Just had a kiddie lithium "ten year" battery smoke alarm go nuts.
It was maybe 4 years old.

I am very fatigued by false alarms, and also leery of IoT security concerns along with cost- ballpark $100 per alarm instead of maybe $25.

Curious on anyone's experience.

Birdi looks pretty neat without the big brother aspects of Google.

As an apartment dweller, I love the idea of smoke detectors that can be silenced remotely.

Birdi doesn't seem to be available yet, but it does look interesting. I'd probably wait for the second generation though -- a smoke detector is a product that requires absolute reliability as its function is very important but you will almost never pay attention to it. The first generation Nest Protect had a lot of issues and was ultimately recalled -- the second generation is apparently much better. But I do like the idea of monitoring air quality.
