Duke started slowly but ended up blowing the doors off their opponent, delaying Liberty's pursuit of happiness for at least a few days. Becca Greenwell scored 28 with 6 boards, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Oderah Chidom had 6 blocks.
Vastly improved from last season: Kyra Lambert (13 pts, 5 assts, 0 to's); Erin Mathias (10 rebounds and some really nifty passing for 4 assists against 1 to); Kendall Cooper (10 pts, 4 rebs, 2 blks, and a steal in just 14 minutes); and Lynee' Belton (10 pts, 4 rebs, 2 assts, and a block in 19 mins).
Leaonna Odom is going to be a player. She has real skills. But also possibly the jitters -- 3 passes bounced off her hands and out of bounds. Lexie Brown seemed a little placid, but still managed 9 pts, 7 rebs, and 2 assists. She could end up being special.
Got to give credit to the coach for scheduling a true road game in the season opener. Overall, a nice opening win.
