We have a mutual opponent in Rutgers. Elon beat them 66-54 at home. They've also played Wake and UNC, only losing by 5 to the Heels in Carmichael.

I was at the Elon-Rutgers game. Being better than Rutgers is, as a friend says, the Taller than Mickey Rooney award. They had some decent ball movement, and OK on D, but this shouldn't be close. Elon losing to the cheating Smurfs by 5 says more about how bad it is (other than sartorially) ten miles away.

The women won by only seven, 68-61. It looks like from the box score that Elon made a run in the 4th quarter to get close.
Tied the game in rebounds and turnovers. (39, 17)

Duke led by 16 with 2:30 left, when Lexie and Rebecca went out of the game. The bench lost the rest of the game 11-2.

That said, it was a lethargic showing for the most part. Elon was aggressive inside, on D a lot of hands knocking the ball away on drives. Turnovers were again a problem, fortunately Elon missed a lot of shots.

We had foul trouble inside, Erin picked up two quickly, a third before the half, and a fourth early in the third quarter. Oderah and Kendall were off their game as well. Lynee tries, but she just isn't back fully from her injuries.

Overall, I'm glad we didn't play a tougher team. I was a little tough on Elon, they're a decent CAA team, but really shouldn't be competitive with Duke. Next home game is against Villanova, and the defense better be ready to defend the three. That, unfortunately, is a perennial issue with Duke's D. (Villanova doesn't have the talent it's had in the past, with the graduation of the Coyer twins depleting their guards. They have seven freshmen on the squad, and they've struggled, losing to GW, Troy and VCU (beating Purdue) and are on a three game winning streak.

Duke hosts Kentucky at 7pm ET on Thursday and can be seen on ACC Network Extra. Hopefully they get some good jersey retirement coverage in there too.

This is also a good time to point out that ESPN has officially announced a DirecTV rollout that they have been testing recently. DirecTV customers in some select states with receivers that have the TV Apps feature and internet connectivity can now access WatchESPN with the receiver and have it broadcast on their television without the need for a computer hookup or a third party box. This is supposed to eventually be expanded to the rest of the country in the coming months.

Hoping fans show up and pack Cameron nicely. Louisville is ranked 8th and would be a sweet win. We have a few mutual opponents so far. They beat UK by 2, Vandy by 12, and lost to South Carolina by a lot.

If we win, I think there is a better than good chance we will be in the top 10 again.

Horrid first half, the Wolfies lead 35-21 at the very nicely renovated Reynolds.

No offensive flow at all, just chucking up the ball when nothing else is open. On D, the Pack has hit a bunch of threes, moving the ball well. A lot of it is hitting some contested shots, but we need to rotate a little better. We're in some foul trouble inside with Kendall, Erin and Leaonna with two each, along with Lexie.

Games over if we don't find our offense.

Raise your hand if you thought the women's team would be ranked higher than the men's this season.

This is not to denigrate the men in any way. It's why sports are the true 'reality TV', and explains our addiction to it. Chemistry and continuity are so important when there are only 5 people on the court/field. I hope we can get and stay healthy in February.

Duke closes out the regular season on Sunday at the center for sports ethics.

Nice, but the building's full name is the Lawrence R. "Bubba" Cunningham Center for Sporting Ethics (Fingers Crossed Behind My Back). You can find it on the esteemed Chapel Hill campus of the University of North Carolina. Walk along the Carolina Way, just past the Wayne Walden Tutoring Complex. If you see the Andrew Tyler Hansbrough Reading Room, then you've gone too far.

Don't know if this helps anyone, but my Fox Sports South is showing hockey tonight (and other stuff has been on this afternoon) so I thought I would miss the game. But I pulled out my channel guide and found I got Fox Sports Florida up in the 1100 channels, and the afternoon game was on there. So I'm hoping I can catch the Duke game there tonight, but it is on a channel I would not normally find.

If you are a cable subscriber in North Carolina or parts of Virginia as indicated by the map, your ESPN2 should permanently be on the game.

DISH Network and AT&T U-Verse customers should also have a dedicated channel for the game. It is unclear whether that will be unrestricted or only available to people in the shaded region of the map.

DirecTV customers can watch on 789 and Verizon FIOS customers can watch on 822 regardless of location.

Television options are based on your location. If you are a cable subscriber in the states of North Carolina or Oregon your local ESPN2 will be on the game for its entirety. If you are a cable subscriber and are in the Green, Blue, or Red shaded areas, you will only be able to view online or when the game for your area is not played. Cable subscribers in the black shaded area will get whiparound coverage on ESPN2, which will probably feature a lot of the UConn game.

If you are a subscriber to a national provider, you should have access to the game in its entirety regardless of location. The channels provided thus far are DirecTV 790, Dish 146, and Verizon FIOS 823.

I live in the black area, where there was supposed to be whip-around coverage. I was out, but DVR'd the ESPN2 broadcast. They showed about 20 seconds of Oregon-Duke. Nearly the whole broadcast was the coronation of UConn.
