I am no Laettner fan but it occurs to me if he was given a penny for every ten times "The Shot" was shown, sold, or talked about on sports broadcasts, this would not be an issue. Don't get me wrong, I think a free ride to a Duke degree is fine compensation for an athletic career but when someone creates an iconic moment that becomes the heart of a billion dollar event, they deserve some nickels on those dollars.

"Blue Devils Ventures" seems like the classic boom/bust story....lever up as far as you can and lever up some more. In this case, try and turn a hugely financially successful downtown Durham gentrification effort into buying an NBA franchise. Man, what a disaster. I guess it's no coincidence that BD doesn't show up at K Academy, who knows how many people attached to the program he got to invest, especially if he owed Johnny D over $500K.
