Would love for the board's posters to enlighten me. I cannot remember when Duke finished this poorly in these rankings ( much less among the ACC members).

OK, Diablesseblu, you are good at getting people to do work. Here are the results for Duke since 1994.

1994 26
1995 21
1996 39
1997 23
1998 28
1999 7
2000 24
2001 16
2002 30
2003 21
2004 18
2005 5
2006 8
2007 11
2008 19
2009 17
2010 10
2011 5
2012 16
2013 12
2014 9
2015 20
2016 24
Duke has finished as high as #5 in 2005 and 2011, but the results this year are the worst since 2002 and more typical of our results in the 1990's. Also, it helps to win national championships.

Thanks, Sage Grouse. Appreciate your research!

Should have looked it up myself, but it was late and I was whipped...too much yard work. It's hard to find someone to do that kind of work! ;)

Some of the sports in which we've scored good Director's Cup points in past years underperformed this year. The two biggies were men's lacrosse (which had an up and down season, then lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament), and women's basketball (which didn't even make the NCAA Tournament). And men's basketball had a good-but-not-great postseason result (Sweet 16). We did have several other sports that posted good results, but none that I can think of really exceeded expectations, except for maybe baseball.
