I was just watching a couple of classic Duke-Georgia Tech games that were on ESPN Classic earlier this week -- the 1990 game in Atlanta (where freshman Bobby Hurley helped Duke beat a Tech team led by freshman Kenny Anderson) and the 1984 ACC Tournament matchup, where Johnny Dawkins and company edged Mark Price and company on overtime.
It was refreshing to see those old games -- the '84 game especially as a great reminder of how good Dawkins and Alarie were ... and how clutch David Henderson was.
It got me thinking. Along about this time of year, I started jonesing for Duke basketball. If any of you share those withdrawal symptoms, might I suggest the ACC vault:
http://vault.theacc.com/
It contains almost 50 Duke games (dating back to the '80s). Not all of them are wins, but most of them are. I strong recommend the back-to-back 1988 and 1989 ACC title games (the first a great Duke win, the second a tough loss) just to see the intensity of those two games. Also check out -- the 2001 ACC title game win over UNC, the 2002 ACC title game over NC State (and an incredible last 10 minutes by JJ Redick) and the 2012 Duke-UNC game from Chapel Hill (the Austin Rivers shot).
You can also find a bunch of compete games on Youtube. Just as example:
Duke's 2016 win over Louisville in Cameron: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGvtLxahliE
Duke's 2016 win in Chapel Hill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJHLWjqitiU
Duke's great 2016 win over Virginia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJN-evJVVCw
These are just a small sampling ... look and you'll be amazed what you find.
In fact, if you find a good one from the past, please post on this thread.
Oops had to edit to add this one: Duke-Butler in the 2010 title game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwXLE5Li8mQ
