Please see the photo of Coach K that accompanies the linked article about highly ranked high school center, David McCormack, a rising junior at Norfolk Academy, and an unofficial visit he paid to Duke this past weekend.

While McCormack hasn't gotten an offer from Duke, of more interest to me at the moment is the boot on Coach's left foot. I confess to ignorance these things, but does the boot have something to do with Coach's recent knee replacement surgery, or is he hobbled by another injury?

Another foot vigil?

I have no idea about the status of Coach's foot - just couldn't resist a foot vigil. :D

I know nothing about the foot but that is one HUGE high school junior! Imagine when he grows up. :p:cool:

It was just a matter of time- how many foot injuries have Duke players endured over the years. Must be the shoes.

The orthopedic surgeons at Duke Medical center have developed a new procedure whereby any potential Duke recruit is forever prevented from having a foot injury if they wrap their arms around Coach K while he wears a boot. It wards off any evil spirits. Randomized controlled trials have proven this effect. Don't tell anybody else!

If this works, no more foot/ankle vigils! And when Coach K retires, the boot should be hung from the rafters.

I read on Twitter yesterday from Jeff Gravley the sports anchor for WRAL Coach K had surgery to remove a cyst on his ankle that was putting pressure on a nerve. Forgive me I don't know how to link the quote.

Such a mensch, you have saved GLTBD from untold scorn and derision. The gall of an unlinked attribution!

I do appreciate the info, I admit I was a touch concerned by the boot. The basketball team must buy those suckers in bulk.

If he needs it he can have one of mine. I've got two left feet.
