Duke beat Pitt 2-1 in the 10th inning. Pitt had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th with one out but Duke got out of the inning.

Duke hasn't been to the NCAA tournament since 1961. The conventional wisdom is that one win in its series with Pitt may get Duke in, two probably gets Duke in and three wins definitely gets Duke in.

Guess Wikipedia could give me the answers ... but how many D1 baseball programs are there, how big is the tourney, how many auto qualifiers v. how many at-large ... like in hoops it was, what, 351 universe, 68 to the tourney, 32-ish(?) auto qualifiers ...

Saw this list of the top 30 baseball, with Duke among the 28 also receiving votes: http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/baseball/d1 Is there any first four in, first four out baseball prognosticating going on ....

As of 2015 - 295 D1 teams (6 transitioning from D2), 64 teams fielded from 32 Conference champs and 32 at large. The unique format of this tournament has the regional round played as double elimination on the #1 seeds home fields then switches to best of 3 series for the Sweet sixteen through the College World Series at Omaha.
