That because yours run on ethanol, my man. And ours, we just use it for parties.

I just hate it when that happens. Pass the MD 20/20.

Duke: Dost thou bite thy thumb at us, sir?
Yale: I do bite my thumb, sir.
Duke: Do you bite your thumb at us, sir?
Yale (to Harvard): Is the law of our side if I say, "Ay"?
Harvard: No.
Yale: No, sir, I do not bite my thumb at you, sir; but I bite my thumb, sir. Do you quarrel, sir?
Duke: Quarrel, sir? No, sir.
Yale: If you do, sir, I am for you: I serve as good a man as you.
Duke: No better.
Yale: Well, sir. Draw, if you be men! Remember, thy swashing blow!

I can explain Yale hating in one video - this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4kai4FL0MQ

Elis are proud of this, they are actually proud of this event. The only Harvard student in the video figures out they aren't Harvard kids. The older folks in the video - I knew one of them (not one of the speakers but sitting nearby), he was the husband of my longtime childcare person - they were lifelong Cambridge residents and Harvard season ticket holders because they liked going to the games with their friends. Harvard fans because it was the local team. The Yale students pranked them and people like them, not Harvard kids. But when I tell an Eli how lame this event really was, they will defend it as the best thing ever.

So, yeah. When it comes to The Game (they call it that like it's a rivalry or something), I'm Go Crimson all the way. Also - the best pranks are pulled by MIT students. Or by Duke students who steal Michael Jordan's retired jersey.

Still, I was rooting for Yale against Baylor.

When I first heard of the Yale prank, I thought it was pretty funny. Now I'm not so sure. I had assumed most of the non-students in the stands for The Game would be alums, not just locals who want to see a local college football game. Even if you're mistaken about that, however, it is derivative of the Caltech Rose Bowl prank of 1961:

and I agree, MIT does pull some awesome hacks/pranks. The cop car on the dome, complete with doughnut-eating mannequin, is one of the best.

Many are locals. Not all. There are some alums. But if you'll notice, with the exception of that one Harvard student that isn't fooled, every fan they show is older. The crowds at Harvard footballs games skew older. Fooling them just feels different. Some of them might be highly suspicious, but who wants to be the cranky old guy spoiling the kids' fun? Are you going to make me say "Yale sucks?" No, of course not. We're nice!

So, Yalies win by getting an older woman to use language she'd rather not use? Hollow victory if you ask me.

I often go to Harvard sporting events because they are, hands down, the best deal in Boston sports. Tickets and concessions usually run me $60 - $75, total, for a family of 6. I'm not kidding. So, I've been to more than a few Harvard football games over the years - it's mostly folks like me who enjoy going to a sporting event but don't want to pay tons of money. C'mon - it's Harvard - it's not like it matters who wins! ;-) That said, I never go to The Game cause those crowds are annoying. How do I know they are annoying? I've been in the Square when the post game crowd comes through the Square. Wearing blue.

The Yale folk aren't all bad. Calvin Hill, Grant's dad, went to Yale... he played in the famous 1968 Harvard-Yale football game.

Agreed.

I don't hate them, I just don't find it all that surprising that there is latent animosity out there. ;-)
