Three Duke players were selected in todays's Major League Lacrosse draft, all by the Atlanta Blaze.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, midfielder Myles Jones was the first overall pick. That sound you hear is MLL defensive co-ordinators banging their heads on their desks; yeah, they have to game-plan for the combination of Myles and Lyle Thompson running together.
The Blaze then created a hole in their offensive midfield by trading Duke alum Justin Turri to Boston for elite LSM Scott Ratliff ... And filled it by taking Deemer Class with the first pick of the second round. For a guy who lives on finding seams in rotating defenses and stepping into them for open looks, this sure looks like an optimum situation.
Finally, attackman Case Matheis was selected with the first pick of the seventh round. Not many seventh-round picks make it to game-day rosters, but he has a shot to be a backup and be a wing sniper on the extra-man unit.
In a mild surprise, Jamie Ikeda wernt undrafted.
