Anyone seen this one (http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=14392912) yet?

Since he's such a family guy, it's cool to see K and his grand kids in a commercial together.

That's one of the better Sports Center commercials that I've seen in a while!

(Maybe slight homer bias)

As a society, we are evolving toward communication by pictographs? Well, at least they're not petroglyphs.

I might skip this evolutionary linguistic step and move right to grunting and pointing.

Oh wait. That was disco, and we passed it already.

Thank the music gods it passed. IMO, it was more harmful and painful than a kidney stone.

Agreed. And my first kidney stone sent me into shock on the floor of my hotel room while traveling.

Ughh...kidney stones. I've had 4 and I'm only 24. Those are no joke.

devildeac, you should have told folks to be sure and watch that video clean through. It's longish, but it just keeps getting better and better.

Back to the original post: On Thanksgiving this year, I was texting with my kids and other East Coast relatives, and a grown daughter sent me a text made up exclusively of 7 emojis. I puzzled over them on my tiny phone screen for some time. I still have no idea what she was trying to communicate, but there was some kind of yellow smiley jumpy bugeye thingy, so I guess she wasn't reporting a car wreck. Mrs. H commented: "Maybe she's telling you're going to be a grandfather." I haven't slept now for exactly 32 nights.

There was some dubstep and acid house that made me nostalgic for disco. But I'm very, very old.

Holy Sweet Mother of Pearl, DD. Congrats to you!

I'm not sure about my daughter's message, though. I've asked for an Emoji-English dictionary for Christmas. She may have just been asking for money or articulating some other Thanksgiving tradition. Turkey fell on the floor; found broken glass in the cranberry sauce; Aunt Edna is drunk and wants more wine. Hard to tell without that dictionary or an 18 year old in the house.

Has anyone noticed that the 'content' apparently has been removed by ESPN? The commercial is no longer available. (Sorry grand kids!)

I wonder if they notified Coach K by emoji string. What would that even look like?

Yes--can anyone tell me what happened in this commercial, since it was gone by the time I got there?

am I the only one that didn't find this particularly enjoyable?

It seemed far more forced than most this is SC commercials, and isn't clever or funny.

Actually, I liked this one better than most (and not just because it involved Coach K). I thought it WAS amusing because, I believe, it was trying to show the generation gap between the old timer (K) and the young folks (his grandkids) in how they communicate with one another. Of course, K was totally oblivious to the messages back and forth between Justice and the kids but it really didn't matter.

Another new commercial with Coach K, his grandkids, and emojis. This time, the target is Kyrie Irving.

It appears to me that K's grandsons are no longer eligible for college athletics! :p:cool:

Doubt it. After the Great Emoji Battle for Free Agent DeAndre Jordan 2015 (http://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2015/07/08/clippers-mavericks-deandre-jordan-travel-emoji), Coach K would be wise to steer clear of the Clippers.
