I posted right before the boards changed over about my son, Ronnie, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December. Well, chemo is going well so far, he has his next MRI in 2 weeks. In the meantime two wonderful women are participating in two different fund-raisers in Ronnie's name.

Liz Benjamin is running the Boston Marathon to raise money for Pediatric Cancer Research. If you'd like to donate, here's her website http://www.firstgiving.com/ElizabethBenjamin.

Remi Dansinger, a member of my book club, is getting on a bike in the Ride for Research. Here's her website, http://www.braintumorsociety.org/site/TR?px=1035910&pg=personal&fr_id=1131&et=dLlqDkvPWD3zLAw9C9td0w..&s_tafId=7611. You may want to cut and paste that one.

Think about it, even a dollar helps.

If you want to check on Ronnie, here's where I update about him, http://www.carepages.com/mgh, page name RonnieLee.

And if donating money is something you can't manage right now, think about giving blood. I never really thought about it before but cancer patients (as well as many others) often need blood transfusions. I know the hospitals around here all have their own blood banks and there are often giveaways for donations. I work at MGH's rival hospital, Brigham and Women's and you can often get a nice sweatshirt for donating blood. Thanks!

I've been following Ronnie's case. He's a trooper. His dad is a terrific guy. I played Diplomacy games with him at Duke that lasted for days. We had no choice but to play that long. Otherwise, we'd have to study.

I encourage everyone to sponsor Liz and Remi and to check in on Ronnie's progress. I encourage everyone to keep Ronnie and his parents in their thoughts and prayers. They are enduring more than most of us will ever have to endure.
