Homer Simpson a Blue Devil?!

OK, this has me scratching my head. I watched the Simpsons last night, and there's a scene with Homer sitting at the dinner table wearing a Duke T-shirt and holding an NC State pennant.
Is there some connection with the folks who do the show??? It's kind of hard to accept it as just a random selection - which did happen to omit one of the other schools in the general RDU area.

Bringing back this thread from September 2015 because some have recently noticed (https://sports.yahoo.com/did-simpsons-predict-nc-state-180748906.html) that this scene was set on March 31, which is the same day Duke and NC State played their Elite Eight game in 2024. Another example of how "The Simpsons" predicts everything.
