I don't know about y'all but I'm worried. Our next foe is undefeated and unscored on and totally dominated their game last PM.

(well, not really worried but I thought I'd get the thread rolling)

Duke's Week 3 opponent has my attention as well: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2561744-stanford-vs-northwestern-score-highlights-and-twitter-reaction-for-upset

Maybe the schedule isn't AS soft as originally suspected...thoughts?

Sounds like that'll be an excellent topic to discuss next Sunday after we (hopefully) take care of NCCU this week;).

Improved Duke team + Improved NCCU team still equals 45-0 win for Duke!!!!

Interesting that NCCU also had a spectacular special teams performance in their opener.

Our FG kicker kicked three field goals (one over 40 yards)? Their field goal kicker kicked three field goals (one over 40 yards.

Our KO returner returned one 95 yards? Their KO returner returned one 95 yards.

They also blocked a punt for their first TD. And their punt returner said a school record with 145 yards in returns.

One interesting coincidence -- the name of their kickoff returner -- Ryan Smith -- is the same as the name of our punt returner!

WX forecast looks like the new field might get a bit muddy on Saturday.

I looked on GoDuke.com for some photos and stats about the Brooks Field at WW stadium and could not find the capacity of the new stadium. Does anyone know where to find the facts and figures about the new stadium?

http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/duke/article10070828.html

This is the closest estimate I could find (~40,000).

it's njot complete yet andany number is likely an estimate. it's probably about the same capacity as last year, as the last 15 rows or so of the west side are taken by temporary luxury boxes. the club level seats aren't built yet, and there are the new rows down front.

But the University would have to know how many tickets it could sell and call it a sellout. (Not that we are going to sellout this weekend, but If we were playing a top 10 name team we might.) Or would they just sell tickets to seats that don't exist?

Those aren't luxury boxes on the West side. Those are temporary press boxes and temporary coaches boxes. I think they'll be anything but luxurious.

After NCCU layed the 72-0 smack down on St. Augustine's, Duke's defense took notice. Brooke Pryor at the Herald-Sun wrote about it.

“Seventy two points is a lot,” redshirt junior safety DeVon Edwards said. “That’s a lot for anybody. I don’t care who you play. So we just take that to challenge ourselves to get out there and play better on defense than last week.”

Speaking of Brooke Pryor, perhaps the best part of her whole write up is in her bio...

Brooke earned her BA in Journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she promises all of her classes were real.

I have Duke's official release and it lists Wade's capacity at 33,941 -- hat's exactly the same as last year. That was the official attendance of last year's game with UNC.

Of course, Duke has a lot of room for standing room (although that might be cut by the construction on the concourse). The largest official attendance of the Cutcliffe era was 39,042 for Alabama's visit in 2010 (was it really that long ago?). In the old days, the concourse used to be two-thirds surrounded by bleachers ... and for big games, they'd bring in more bleachers and set them up in the open end zone and around the lower bowl. That's how they got 56,000 for the 1942 Rose Bowl and 57,500 for the 1949 Duke-UNC game (which for 20-plus years was the largest crowd to see a football game in North Carolina).

there's 13 of them (if i recall). some are for press. some are for coaches, and some are for people who paid a lot of money to be in them.

for the record, there are 4 boxes on the other side. these are the visiting team's box, kevin white's box, our team's box, and...crap i forget what the last one is for.

It does not appear that this game has made the cut to get into the ESPN College Extra package. Wake/Syracuse and Tulane/GT are shown in the package on DirecTV, but no Duke game.

At what point do we call off the dogs. I mean, NCCU isn't a team we want to embarrass.

I am unable to watch but based on what I saw last week and the current score in this week's game, it appears as though our defense is much improved.
