Did you think we just quit the podcast because it's summer? Nope, we're back! We recorded last Tuesday and then perhaps we all got in the July 4 spirit and neglected to actually share out work, so here it is.

Donald, Sam, and Jason share some life stories before we dive into actual DBR stuff.
6:40 Three Blue Devils were drafted. Donald begins to rage.
8:00 Sam starts the conversation with Justise Winslow going to the Heat. What were the Hornets and Pistons thinking?
17:10 Jahlil Okafor went third to the Sixers. Jason wonders if the Sixers will ever stop rebuilding.
24:40 Quinn Cook signed with Oklahoma City's Summer League roster. Wait and see.
25: 20 Tyus Jones is back home in Minnesota. Could it be a perfect fit for him?
31:00 Quinn Cook speculation leads to Coach K replacement speculation
31:40 Jason rails on one-and-done, while Sam highlights experienced players who got drafted in the first round.
38:00 Some veteran NBA Blue Devils are on new teams. We recorded after Kyle Singler signed his extension, so we didn't get to touch on that.
43:20 We discuss Duke's basketball schedule for the 2016 season. There could be some high quality gamed with Kentucky, Indiana, and Utah. We can't figure out what counts as explicit content.
53:50 Poor Chazz Surratt was duped by UNC. Here comes a Jason rant.
1:08:10 There is a hot contest for DBR's top UNC hater. Check it out on the forum.
1:13:30 Parting shots and farewell. It'll be football season before you know it!

I can't believe no one has chimed in with corrections ;)

I said I thought Ricky Winslow was a late first round draft pick, he was in fact the 5th pick of the 2nd round of the 1987 NBA Draft (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1987_NBA_draft). Though back then the first round only had 24 teams so Winslow being picked 28th would have made him a first rounder in today's NBA.

Donald insisted the Harrison twins were likely top 5 NBA draft picks a year ago but elected to return and saw their stock plummet. I was skeptical on the podcast and a little research shows I am right. When the Twins declared they were coming back to Kentucky, virtually (http://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/2014/4/25/5653190/andrew-aaron-harrison-twins-kentucky-return-nba-draft-2014) every (http://www.aseaofblue.com/2014/4/21/5635700/kentucky-wildcat-basketball-the-harrison-twins-the-nba) article (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--harrison-twins-pass-on-nba-draft--returning-to-kentucky-165755689.html) on the subject pointed out that the Twins were far from likely 1st rounders which is why they elected to return to school. NBADraft.net and DraftExpress.com both had them in the 2nd round in their mock drafts prior to the Twins pulling their name from the draft pool. That said, Donald was right that at one point the Twins were considered lottery locks. Their stock just wasn't quite that high by the end of the 2014 NCAA season.

Did we make any other mistakes?

I neglected to mention that this episode was brought to you by Dale's Pale Ale, the unofficial Colorado (and North Carolina, I suppose) craft beer of the DBR podcast. I was drinking one such beverage while we recorded, so you can blame all of my foolishness on that.

Perhaps the DBR tradition of hyper correction doesn't extend to the airwaves. If so, I am in full support of that trend.

I noticed Donald's inflation of the Harrison's draft prospects after their freshmen year but cut him some slack as he was only one year off (they were hot out of high school). Their sliding status is proof that the one-and-done rule actually does help vet some of these talents. Had the two of them been top 5 draft prospects, they surely would have "succeeded and proceeded" as Cal likes to say.

My primary pod reaction was Jason's revelation that his father is a Tar Heel fan. While that may have been known by many, it was news to me and deserves, I think, it's own portion of the next pod - "Battles in the Evans Residence - rivalry anecdotes from the front lines". How is your Dad taking the academic scandal news? What happens when a recruit chooses one school over the other?

I also liked, and empathized with, the delayed-game-watching-spoiler stories. Like Jason, when I am watching in delay mode, I, too, assign meaning to every possible utterance coming from my phone - even when it's two rooms away - a faint buzzing tells me the game may be closer than I am prepared for. There really is no option save for going deep into a cone of silence.

I also appreciate Jason directing me to take a closer look at the posts of swood1000 as he parses the UNC NOA and its implications.

And, just my opinion, you guys should be as explicit as you wanna be. Good to have you back, at least for one episode.
