Has anyone thought they would like a piece of Cameron? i wonder if they thought of selling part of it. I would have brought an entire arch and put it somewhere in my house. That video posted was painful. I bet they could make a lot of money by selling the stones that make up that part of Cameron.

If people paid $200 - $300 for a piece of the Cameron floor, they would pay $500 for a stone with a plaque.

The Hillsborough quarry all that stone came from is no more. I'm hoping they save the stone and put it to good use. Surely they've thought of that. It's impossible to match.

judging by the images, they'll reconstruct the arches at the new entranceway.

I've also seen differing facts on the amount of stone left in the quarry...whether it is truly completly dry, or they just don't have enough to build whole new buildings out of, I don't know.

I just hope it is constructed in a manner that relieves the congestion on that South facing hall. Coming out on that end during halftime to use the restroom or get food is painful. You can barely move. Really really hoping widening that hallway is part of this plan! Along with adding restrooms!

I suspect there is enough stone in the quarry, but the cost to extract it is prohibitive for large projects. Clearly the stone has been used to trim many newer Duke buildings...at least at eye level. Clearly Cameron is worthy of the extra expense.

Any stone removed will almost certainly be reused in some way on campus. Much of the cost of stone is the cost of moving it, which is why the quarry in Hillsborough was chosen over the one Princeton had used.

The published issues with stone in the quarry had to do with the colors available and the simple fact that current Duke construction use the stone sparingly to keep cost down.

I assure you the quarry is still very much in existence and Duke just dug a lot of stone out of it for various projects. It just has a finite life so they are careful with how much they use.

The stone is being reused and reassembled in the new expanded front which will match the old front, just extended out.
