Thanks for posting, Jim. Duke is very fortunate to attract some very high caliber true student-athletes.

Speaking of local track stars, I learned that Wesley Frazier, who was a distance running stand-out at Ravenscroft and came to Duke in the fall of 2013, has since transferred to NC State.

So he can still pretend he's at Hogworts, he just transferred to Triangle version of Hufflepuff

Wesley's a she.

Her younger--and even more talented--sister signed with State, so there may be a family dynamic at work here.

Her name is Ryen.

The parents have a way with names. :)

Cary, Apex finish high in NCHSAA 4A championship meet; Apex’s Murphy takes MVP
(http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/high-school/article20602221.html)

Apex standout Sydnei Murphy won two state championships, the triple and long jumps, and was named the girls meet MVP. She had a leap of 20 feet, 3 inches in the long and went 40 feet and three-quarters of an inch in the triple. The long jump stood out to her.

“I’ve been trying to hit 20 feet all year and I did it here in my final state meet,” Murphy said. “It was a great day.”

Sydnei also got 3rd in both the 100 meters (11.61 a personal best) and the 200 (24.03).
