Didn't want to start this thread due to jinxing it from happening but after winning the title tonight, all three of the Plumlee brothers have won a National Championship while playing at Duke.

Are there any other set's of three brothers that have won National Championships in basketball in the history of the NCAA? Not sure if this has happened before. Some set's of brothers may have won National titles playing at different school's, but the three Plumblee brothers did it at one school.

I am sure if it has happened before with a set of twins or two brother's, but curious if a set of three brothers have done it at one school or numerous school's?

That's amazing. Plumlees 3 rings; Marshall no rings.

Don't forget that the Kelly brothers are now tied with both Dean and Roy with 2 rings.

Totally forgot about the Kelly brothers, there is another set of brother's winning National titles at the same school.

Duke Basketball, team of brotherly love.

Have any other families produced three NCAA champions? Or have the Plumlees reached undiscovered country?

Pretty awesome.

The Alcindor family.

for those, like me, who weren't 100% sure whether this was tongue in cheek, i checked and kareem was an only child.

Yeah, and he has three titles. So do lots of other only children who played for UCLA in the '60s and '70s. That gives their families three titles each, matching the Plumlees.

But because the Alcindor family can only produce one NCAA champion per child, the Alcindor example is completely different and irrelevant to the question posed by Mountain.

I don't know of any family that has produced 3 NCAA champions at even different sports, let alone one sport.

The Alcindor family is surpassed by the Bibby family, with four. But that also doesn't answer Mountain's question (as Henderson rightly notes).

I can't think of any in college, but the Molina brothers (Bengie, Jose, and Yadier) all have world series rings.

I don't know, but...

Before the events in Foxcatcher, Dave Schultz was an NCAA champion (1982) and his brother Mark Schultz was a 3-time NCAA champion (1981-1983), all for Oklahoma. Of course, wrestling is an individual sport with championships for each weight class.

Similarly, Bob and Mike Bryan won an NCAA men's doubles tennis title (1988) and contributed to NCAA team titles for Stanford (1987, 1988).

I'm sure the list of families with multiple NCAA champions gets long if you include individual titles, and even longer if you consider Division II and III. But among families with three or more NCAA Division I team champions, the Plumlees are either alone or in rare company.

This is probably the place to start your research.

The O'Bannon brothers both won a title at UCLA in the mid-90s, but not 3 champions.

To bad UND's Volleyball team is no good. Would be awesome to see their sis win one in her sport as well at the collegiate level.

Fear not, Kendall Marshall. The Ringling Brothers are looking to bolster their stable.

I wish I could get on the Mr & Mrs Plumlee's Christmas card list!

That's going to be one cool picture of the three rings.

The only other siblings that I actually see coming close were the Selmons from Oklahoma football. Two were All-Americas on the 1974 & 1975 NCAA Championship teams while their older brother graduated in the Spring of 1974. Other than them, I cannot think of anyone unless it happened in lesser followed sports.
