If you had to pick just one team to win the ACC tourney and one to win the NCAA tourney, which teams would you pick? (I know it's stupid to take one team against the field; this is not for betting purposes, but just for fun.)

I'll start.

ACC: Maryland.

NCAA: Kansas.

ACC: Maryland (because they are peaking)
NCAA: Ohio State (because they remind me of 2004 U Conn.)

NCAA: Kansas.

Exactly what I was going to put.

Why not start polls?

ACC: Maryland
NCAA: UNC

UNC has the talent and they just need to finish gelling. I think the shnoz will help them along.

ACC: - Only God himself knows. I'd lean towards Maryland but four games in four days is tough. Over the last 20 or so years only 4 teams have won the regular season (defined as getting the #1 seed) and the conference tourney - all Duke teams. BC has struggled lately. VT and UVA are inconsistent. GT just barely got past the bubble, and we're struggling. If I had to pick I'd say UNC, but they'll have to face a battle just to get past a quarterfinal matchup with a desperate Clemson/FSU team.

NCAA - I like Kansas.

Longshots

ACC: Clemson : Physical and they have good guards
NCAA : This is the year of the mid-major. How about Southern Ill (someone else mentioned this in a different thread and it would be fun)

I think Duke is a better scoring team and defensively comparable to Southern Illinois. I just don't think Southern has the scoring weapons to win six straight games. Final Four? Definitely possible.

ACC: VaTech

NCAA: UCLA

aside from duke, the obvious pick to win both...

acc: unc. just too talented.

ncaa: ucla. best backcourt in the country + final four experience.

kansas has been a trendy pick all year - has everyone forgotten they lost as a 3 seed in the first round last year, and as a 4 seed in the first round the year before? they're on target to lose a 2-15 matchup this year (and maybe a 1-16 next).

Maryland and Florida (UF had a tough stretch last year, as well. Been there, done that, an edge, IMO.)

UNC hasn't performed well in the ACC tourney the last few years. Hopefully that will be the case this year again.

If Duke doesn't win it all, my vote is for Winthrop. Actually, throw in Butler as option number 2 since "Hoosiers" was filmed in their gym. :)

ACC - Maryland

NCAA - Maryland

Maryland is playing extremely good basketball at the right time of the year and they have Senior leadership. Gary Williams grabs his second title and his title references quadruple.

ACC -
UNC, they have played poorly lately, freshman might be tiring.
So I'd go with UVa (a great set of guards).
Va Tech - not 3 games back to back to back.
Maryland is hot but I just can't see the lack of intelligence on that team putting together a good run (somewhere along the line they will lose their attention).

NCAA -
Ohio St. - a big inside and senior leadership, a good chance.
Wisconsin - best player in the country and senior leadership.
UCLA - talented and good leadership.
Florida - looks like a team that is beat from a season of having a target on their backs.
Kansas - talented but they can't be controlled by their coach.
UNC - freshman will lose it for them, but if Roy plays upper classmen more they might have a chance.
Memphis - they need to play in a REAL league before someone can give them a chance to win it all.
Texas A&M - senior leadership but they haven't been here before.

No mid majors in the final 4 this year. Even though it is a open field it is only gonna be open because of the top 8 or so teams.

ACC -- UNC too many horses
NCAA -- Darn if I know but Fla looks pretty good.

ACC - Georgia Tech (Just to be different, and because I refuse to pick the team that I actually think is going to win...)

NCAA - UCLA (Have you watched these guys?)

Of course I want Duke to win both but if I have to choose other teams...

ACC: anyone except UNC, VT, Maryland, or BC
NCAA: Kansas

I don't know how we aren't all saying Duke for both, given that the question isn't who we think will win but rather than who we'd like to win?

As for who I think would be favorites, probably MD and UCLA.
