Is there anyone in this pool that ever picks a non-Duke team to win?

Would be a fascinating social study :-)

There definitely were a few last year. Of course, they were near or at the top of the standings.

My bracket picking boils down to 2 steps:

1. Pick Duke to win
2. Fill in the rest of the bracket the way I think it will go down.

Naw. Still too early. It takes a while to clean it, shock it, and then wait for the ph and chemical readings to stabilize. And realistically, unless you are a member of the polar bear club, the air temperature is not up enough to bring the water temperature up to a tolerable level. Whoops, since I moved from Texas, I was making a judgment based on NC mountain temperatures. Heck, the pools in Texas were probably in good standing weeks and weeks ago.

(That's about the amount of interest I've had since UConn and UK were on their way to the FF.)

But I have to admit, UConn played a fantastic game, and it was exciting to watch------especially since UK lost.

As someone who demolished their pool this past year, I'm really getting a kick...

Love my Dukies but I've got them losing to Arizona in the Final as the Wildcats will be riding high after taking down UK. I'll gladly take the loss if that means we're hanging a 5th banner in CIS

I will not be filling out a bracket for just this reason. I refuse to pick a bracket where Kentucky wins, but I'm also not trying to lose money.

In all seriousness, I believe we're all going to really enjoy Luke at Duke.

The Duke hate is going to be astronomical next season, with Luke, Marshall, and Grayson playing huge minutes... When Duke has really good white dudes ballin out, we get the most hate. Its really fascinating to me, as the bulk of that hate comes from other white dudes.

30 for 30, "I Was A White College Hoops Star", starring JJ, Tyler Hansbro, that dude from Ohio State, Christian Laettner, Adam Morrison, and Jalen Rose to tell us why he is still salty

Anyway, I will go ahead and join this bracket challenge as I have stopped gambling on the tournament, and want to just have fun with it this year. After all having a bracket is way more fun when you aren't losing money with each wrongly guessed game.

Our family is using a modified scoring system for our brackets this year. Details are as follows...

Base value for correctly picking any individual game (same as normal bracket competitions):
Round of 64: 10 points
Round of 32: 20 points
Sweet 16: 40 points
Elite 8: 80 points
Final 4: 160 points
Championship Game: 320 points

Team-specific multipliers to base values for individual games:

Correctly picking a UNC win is worth double negative points (i.e., -20 for Round of 64, -40 for Round of 32, etc.).

Correctly picking a UNC loss is worth triple positive points if you correctly identify the team that beats UNC, or double positive points if you don’t (i.e., you get the timing right but the opponent wrong).

Correctly picking a Duke win is worth double points (i.e., +20 for Round of 64, +40 for Round of 32, etc.).

Correctly picking a Duke loss restarts your point total at zero and covers your family in shame.

Individual game bonus points (above and beyond the base value and any team-specific multipliers):

Correctly picking a win for an ACC team other than Duke or UNC is worth 10 bonus points in any round.

Correctly picking an upset is worth 5 bonus points times the difference in seed (but you have to have both participants correct).

Correctly picking the game where Kentucky loses is worth 500 bonus points if you correctly identify the team that beats Kentucky, or 100 bonus points if you don’t (i.e., you get the timing right but the opponent wrong).

Set bonuses:

Correctly picking a “set of 4” doubles the total point value (including any positive or negative multiplier effects plus any bonuses) for all of the games in the set.

Correctly picking a “set of 8” quadruples the total point value for all of the games in the set. Note that a “set of 8” supersedes a “set of 4” – the set bonuses are not cumulative.

Possible “sets of 4” include:
· Round of 64: half of a perfect region (must be 1v16/8v9/5v12/4v13 or 6v11/3v14/7v10/2v15, cannot be some combination of the two)
· Round of 32: perfect region (i.e., all Sweet 16 teams in a region correct)
· Sweet 16: perfect half bracket for the Elite 8 (must be Midwest/West or South/East, cannot be some combination of the two)
· Elite 8: perfect Final Four

Possible “sets of 8” include:
· Round of 64: perfect region
· Round of 32: perfect half bracket (must be Midwest/West or South/East, cannot be some combination of the two)
· Sweet 16: perfect Elite 8

I am really having trouble with the East Bracket, I really can't see any team in that region making a run at the Final Four. Yet someone must... Nova doesn't impress me, UVA may not have Anderson at 100%, Mich St. just isnt that good, Oklahoma,,,yuck I can't imagine them making the final four.... so naturally I picked Northern Iowa, but will probably change it before the night is over.

Louisville looks dangerous to me and is my pick for the FF. Two time NC coach + MH is nothing to cough at.

I think I would be more agreeable if they still had Chris Jones, but as of now they can't really score and they have zero bench production. I just can't see them making a FF run no matter their draw. But like I said somebody has to make it to Indy why not Louisville. I am thinking more and more that this will be the bracket where a sleeper mid major will come out of. Should be fun, maybe State can make a run at it?

Louisville is so hard to pick. They are down a point guard. Harrell could be the best player on the court a lot of games. But he stepped down as a captain in-season which tells me they have chemistry issues or he thinks they are soft. They are a team that loves to press, run and shoot 3s but they are shooting 43% from the field and 30% from 3, so they are not that good at what they want to do. Yet they beat Virginia, Unc, Ohio St so they can win a Sweet 16/Elite 8 level game.

Who knows.

11.57 million people filled out a bracket on ESPN's Bracket Challenge... Only ONE (!!) is still perfect.

10:14 PM - 20 Mar 2015

And here it is. (http://games.espn.go.com/tournament-challenge-bracket/2015/en/entry?entryID=4932920) The trick was to pick Ohio State, Dayton, UCLA, Georgia State, UAB, and no other upsets.

By the way, he or she picked Duke to win it all, beating Kansas in the final 58-0.
