I was too lazy to start this thread earlier, but now that actual news is filtering out on other threads, I should not put it off any longer.

Besides Marcus Stroman, Nate Freiman is also hurt right now, although his is more short-term in nature and should be taken care of by Opening Day.

Stroman was joined in Spring Training by Greg Burke as a non-roster invitee.

Alex Hassan was DFA by the Red Sox after last season, but after a couple waiver moves is with my A's again.

Chris Capuano is still motoring along with the Yankees.

I think I have everyone covered at the major league level. Please let me know if you think I am missing someone. Minor league stuff will pick up next month.

Dan Otero, also with the A's. When asked about having three Duke guys on the A's, Hassan was quoted as having said something like, "I'm not sure that's the best idea. We weren't very good."

And Capuano is now injured with a right quad injury covering first base.

Otero played his final season at South Florida after three years at Duke. I used to claim him when we really didn't have much else. These days it seems unfair to keep claiming him.

He wore the uniform for three years, Andrew. He's ours.

Dennis O'Grady made his first appearance of the spring as a non-roster invitee for the Padres. They also invited him to Spring Training in 2014.

I guess the DL should be renamed the Duke list.

Marcus Stroman is on the 60 day DL and Chris Capuano and Nate Freiman are on the 15 day DL.

When minor league play picks up, I hope that there will be actually players playing games, so I will update then.

Some minor league assignments have been made, although it looks like it will be lighter on this front than recent seasons.

The A's had Alex Hassan DFA at the end of Spring Training and the Rangers claimed him off waivers. He is now at AAA Round Rock.

Greg Burke is with the Blue Jays' AA affiliate in New Hampshire.

Dennis O'Grady actually started as a game as the Padres have him at AA San Antonio.

Jordan Betts is at High A Salem for the Red Sox.

The A's have Robert Huber in the bullpen at Low A Beloit.

The Nationals have Drew Van Orden starting at Low A Hagerstown.

Alex Hassan was DFA by the Rangers so we are down to zero healthy Blue Devils on 40 man rosters. Time to claim Danny Otero again!

Back to the A's for Alex Hassan as he is claimed off waivers again. They promptly assigned him to AAA Nashville.

The Yankees sent Chris Capuano out on a rehab assignment so maybe we'll finally have good news on this thread at some point.

Nate Freiman is also on a rehab assignment, doubling the Duke contingent in Nashville.

Alex Hassan was DFA yet again over the weekend, but this time the A's released him.

The A's also chose to option Nate Freiman to Nashville after his rehab assignment there was over.

The Yankees finally activated Chris Capuano yesterday and he becomes the first player whose last college team was Duke to make an appearance in the majors this season.

In news that more typically sums up this season, Nate Freiman was put on the 7 day disabled list in the minors.

The Blue Jays signed Alex Hassan to a minor league deal and started him out at High A Dunedin in Florida.

Toronto promotes Alex Hassan to AAA Buffalo.

Matuella was on Fangraphs Audio (nerdy but fun baseball podcast, more professional than the DBR podcast) last week talking about his unique draft stock story.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-audio-draft-prospect-michael-matuella/

The first ten minutes or so are introduction between Carson Cistulli, the regular host of the program, and Kiley McDaniel, the Fangraphs prospects writer who actually conducted the interview. Matuella sounds really mature and focused.

In addition to Matuella, Sarkis Ohanian was drafted, which is always cool for a senior. The fun part of the draft starts on Wednesday at 12:00pm ET and can be followed on MLB.com

Teams are starting to sign their draft picks now.

The Rangers signed Matuella, but of course it will be a while before he sees the field.

Andrew Istler, one of several last day picks, has signed with the Dodgers and been assigned to Ogden in the Rookie level Pioneer League.

The Blue Jays promoted Greg Burke to AAA Buffalo.

Sarkis Ohanian signed with the Reds and starts at Billings in the Rookie Pioneer League.

Kenny Koplove opted to sign with the Phillies and starts at their Short Season A team in Williamsport.

There were a couple of signings right before the deadline to take our count up to six for this year.

Andy Perez was assigned to the Rookie level Gulf Coast League by the Red Sox.

Pitcher Dillon Haviland signed with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League. He was a fifth-year senior.

Chris Capuano was DFA by the Yankees.

With nobody else to claim, I guess we have to go back to calling Danny Otero one of our own.

The Yankees outright Chris Capuano to AAA Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

The Yankees opened up a roster spot and selected Chris Capuano, so we have a major leaguer again.

Robert Huber has been on the minor league Disabled List recently.

Chris Capuano was DFA by the Yankees again.

Dan Otero was recalled by the A's, but was a big part of their debacle yesterday, so maybe we do not want to claim him.

Capuano is back up with the Yankees.

And was promptly DFA'd the next day after pitching ~3 innings in relief.

But wait! There's more! Today the Yanks put CC Sabathia on the DL with knee inflammation and resigned Chris! Hope he hasn't gotten whiplash from all the up and down to Scranton this season.

Come on, Chris! We need your Duke representation on the Yankees just to balance all that carolina on the pitching staff.....

There wasn't even enough time to outright him this time!

Robert Huber came off the DL and made an appearance for Beloit over the weekend.

And he was dfa'd again Thursday. He has accepted assignment to Scranton and asked for a couple of starts to get himself right. The Yanks agreed. He'll be back up next week when rosters expand.

Here's a great Grantland story (http://grantland.com/the-triangle/2015-mlb-toronto-blue-jays-marcus-stroman-acl-recovery/) on Stroman's ACL recovery and quick return to the mound - minor league rehab starts at first. The Blue Jays are targeting a mid-September return to the majors. Great news for him.

Dennis O'Grady and Drew Van Orden were put on the disabled list in the minors before the end of the season.
